I'd say no on West Carter moving up just a few weeks back on a post game on mantissportsmedia  coach Barker was talking about them being firmly in 2A. I will be surprised if West Carter tries to go 3A. We will see though.

With Knox Central, Clay County, Bell County, McCreary all seeming to be close in travel, would we see Russell and East Carter join Magoffin and Lawrence County with Morgan County instead?

Makes sense, but I think the KHSAA will want to avoid a 6 team district if possible. Lloyd and Pendleton have to go somewhere and the easy fix is having Lloyd replace Mason in the current district 6. I think Lloyd and Pendleton will be in district together because they are somewhat close and both somewhat isolated from other 3A schools. For sure there are lots of moving parts, and seemingly more big changes than the previous realignment.

I agree on Lloyd and Pendleton being in the same district. Should be interesting to see how the khsaa  aligns the districts.

I've seen comments similar to this in a few posts. While I understand what you are saying, with so many moving parts, I don't think current district is really a thing. This will be a fairly large overhaul, not simply moving one team out and another team in.

Yes, there will be a lot of changes because of all the movement. I would think for scheduling purposes, it would be easier to keep teams together in previous district alignment where possible unless there are obvious geographic conveniences. That being said it looks some districts will get completely blown up with the new alignment which will have big ripple effects across districts and classes.

Or two districts if Bracken gets the option to play down,  in one you would have the river cities of Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow, and Covington Holy Cross and the other would be Newport, NewCath, Brossart, Bracken.

To me it would make more sense with Ludlow, Holy Cross, Newport, NCC and Brossart, Dayton, Bracken, Bellevue. The other way around and Dayton/Bellevue and Holy Cross/Ludlow have to travel through Newport (within eyesight of the football field) just to get to the other side of the district

I am also considering travel- River Cities (D,B,HC and L) or the district of (along) Route 8 and N,NC, Brossart and Bracken considered district of Route 9. IMO this simplifies travel for both districts. NKY is somewhat spoiled with practically no travel compared to other districts, so driving from Ludlow to/from Dayton is nothing new to any of those schools as they already do it.  Appreciate the dialogue!! Interested to see how it all shakes out.

Why? At this point, I would think Boyle/BG would be the target opponent for RPI purposes. If FD goes 6A, and their scheduling is opened up, I would think McPeek wants to schedule Louisville top tiered opponents, South Warren/BG and Boyle. No one else makes sense. 

Fairview should attempt to play up in 2A.

I think I've got all the changes from class to class covered here. (Don't string me up if I missed anything, but let me know if you see a mistake and I'll get it changed.)

This only pertains to changes shown in the initial release of the reclassification numbers for 2023-2026, and is by no means final. If the KHSAA follows suit from the last realignment go-around, this is released, and then the BOC will meet in January/February and will present a draft of the actual realignment, giving each team a district and so on. It appears that the KHSAA is intending on releasing their initial draft of the realignment at their BOC meeting on January 18, 2023.

Once the initial draft is released, the schools have the opportunity to review and petition for any changes they may want to try to make happen, the BOC takes those petitions into consideration, reshuffles, and releases a final approved version of the 2023-2026 alignment around April/May.

WEB DuBois is on schedule to join into district play for the fall 2024 season, and St. Henry is scheduled to come on board in fall 2025. Both programs will be competing in 2A.

Knott County Central, Caverna, Bellevue and Fulton County are going to be back in the alignment, while Phelps, Jackson County, and Jenkins are not going to be in the alignment. The Fulton City and Evangel Christian football programs appear to be remaining in mothballs as well.

I could be wrong, but didn’t St. Henry say they are not starting varsity until of 2026? Since they aren’t even doing middle school until fall of 2024, then JV in 2025. So if they don’t start varsity until 2026. Would they just not participate in a district for their first year?

I was only joking I know that it was already said that if Douglass moved up to 6A that Scott would not be playing them. ? Their board cast guys said that when they were covering the game when we played over there this season.

Correct. I think It would be too disruptive to district scheduling for them to jump in in the middle of a two year cycle. I'm guessing they would play whomever they could, even if it meant playing less than 10 games, and start fresh for the '27 season.
