I admittedly have no knowledge on the situation but remember "the Danville of old". What happened for such a drastic drop off in 2018? I'm sure Boyle has had an impact but I wouldn't expect it to be that drastic, that quickly.

I don't disagree with the Lloyd - Russell prediction or about Lloyd being the favorite, but I would say they also were the favorite in the second round last year. Hopefully that game is still lingering in the minds and the Juggs come out fighting from the get go.

If Bell County and Belfy make 3rd round. Bell County would host presumably LexCath, and then who ever is on top between Lloyd and Belfy would host that matchup. I'm sure Russell, East Carter, and Rock would like a word though.

While I think the Lloyd team that played NewCath was not exactly the same Lloyd team that beat Newport. I just don't see the Cats keeping this one very close.

I have heard that NewCath has already reached out to and scheduled a few of there home games at CovCath. Whether this actually means anything for Newport playing at home, I'm not sure.

To be fair to the coaching staff or who ever makes the schedule. Scott and Holmes may not be perennial powerhouses, but in the last 5 years (disregarding the covid year) they weren't as bad as they were this year. Scott in 4 of those 5 years won at least 7 games. Holmes had not had less than 6 wins since 2018. They had no choice on the Pendleton or Bourbon games, but even for Bourbon this years team just wasn't any good. This was the first losing season for Bethlehem since 2018. Even this year NewCath team seems to be a little down. Brossart's first losing season since 2017. Boone County was a down year even for them. All that said, there wasn't a 3-6A school that had realistic dreams on winning their district on the schedule even before the first game. I'm sure the CovCaths and Highlands of NKY wouldn't have schedule Lloyd to begin with but there is a middle ground. I am not sure how the schedules are handled from year to year, but I wouldn't mind seeing Dixie added again. Conner or Campbell County too. Other than maybe - and it's a big maybe -SK and Cooper I think you'll have to look outside of NKY to avoid biting off too much for you to chew. My non athlete kids are in the Erlanger-Elsmere school district so I may be looking with rose colored glasses. I just think it was wild how all of Lloyd's teams they had scheduled besides LexCath were in a down year and most in a drastic down year.

It was an adversity they had not been a part of all year. This was the only game they played all year that was decided by 2 scores or less. When the first back and forth game you play is in November against a team that's played half a season of 2 score games.. you end up on the wrong side.

Unless Bethlehem wins, the two remaining teams from District 2 would host the two remaining NKY teams. If Bethlehem wins then they would most likely travel to Campbellsville and would leave most likely Newport Catholic playing the winner of Newport/Ludlow
