Congrats on your 1 seed Bardstown, you get the play 2 seed CAL or Central in the 2 round.

What a draw

Brutal. I don’t see anyway Bardstown isn’t in a district or region with those two, though.  Do you?  Central I guess could petition to move up to 4A where the chances are high, at least from the looks of it, that there will be at least one all Jefferson County district with Western, Doss, Valley, Waggener and J-town.  It would make a 6 team district, but they’d have a more than valid argument travel wise.

  • So what are we trying to get at with this that rich kids who can pay for lunch are better at football than poor kids who can’t pay for lunch. I think this has to be the most ridiculous topic I’ve ever

  • Fondly remembering the last realignment when I put a projection up on BGP and the next day Julian Tackett said in the media not to believe something just because it was posted on a message board! ?

  • At least we know the Commish is reading. ?

What a draw.

Better than being in the same district.  Also, at home. Have to beat them sooner or later.  Just need to up our game.

I still think there is a lot of wild cards.  For example, right now Mercer County plays with the Louisville schools and we haven't named them here.  Also, whether Central asks to play "up" may depend on whether Hunter Cantwell & Co. is still at CAL.  If Brohm takes a job at Louisville and brings in several of the coaches from CAL, it changes the landscape a bit.

Very true.  But I think Mercer with LexCath moving down and then you have Bourbon, Garrard.  I think those four wind up together.

Lloyd really throws things out of whack.  They are the only remotely 3A "Nothern Kentucky" team.  I have a tough time seeing them being required to come down to Louisville twice a season, or the Louisville teams go all the way up there.

Also, there seems to be a "division of Louisville" component in the other classes, such as never putting Trinity and St. X in the same district, and I could see that possible happening here, making sure that Central and CAL are not in the same district.

5A District 1-4

D1 Marshal Co, Graves Co,Christian Co,  MNH,

D2 Owensboro, Grayson Co, Muhlenberg Co, Ohio Co

D3 Greenwood, Bowling Green, Warren Central, Barren Co

D4 Fairdale, Butler, Bullitt Central,Moore, Iroquois, North Bullitt

but I could see District 1 with 5 teams because Christian Co, going to 6A the following year.

Thoughts?

Anyone else curious how they handle 7 1A schools in Campbell and Kenton Counties? With Bracken moving up to 2A, it makes sense for Brossart to head towards the river. I'd love to see Holy Cross, Brossart, NewCath in the same district...yes please.

I wonder how much not using the 20/21 year and using 22/23 enrollments twice, affected some of the placements.

We will never know. There were no official enrollment numbers for 20-21 and 21-22; the schools were funded those years based on Average Daily Attendance from 2019-20.

I'm thinking Garrard and Mercer are more likely to shift down with some combination of teams like Marion, Casey, McCreary, Rockcastle, maybe some others.

You could combine Lloyd with Pendleton, Bourbon, and Lexington Catholic if you wanted to create a district that moved up and down US 27/I-75.

With Mason County moving up to 4A, I would think Lloyd might go into District 6 with Pendleton County (45 minutes), Powell, Fleming and Lewis County (all about an hour and a half away).

This is a possibility as well. So Lloyd has some options, all of which require a little bit of travel. This arrangement would certainly be a tougher district than the Pendleton, Fleming, Powell, Lewis option.

Russell will be back in a district with Lewis(Lewis is in 63rd district with Russell in most sports) and Fleming(Feming is 16th region) Russell is about 50 minutes from Lewis and  1:30 to Fleming. East Carter will be in the district  as well. Russell is about :30  :35 minutes from Grayson. Bath should be in the District as well as they are only 1:20 minutes from Russell. West liberty is 1:20 from Russell.

Geographically For Russell's District Bath County,Morgan County ,East Carter,Lewis County,Russell,Fleming County just make sense.

I'm curious if West Carter might move up from 2A. They've done it in some previous alignments over the years and are absolutely on an island based on the schools in 2A right now.
