The NTSB will probably focus in on if the pilot was flying with visual rules, or instrument. Looking at that fog, it would terrify me personally to fly visual in those conditions. It still could have been engine or mechanical failure as well though.

Its saddening and likely could have been avoided from the sounds of it.

Apparently poor weather conditions. It sounds like the pilot was having to follow the highways - literally - to navigate. Following 405, 101. I know that general area when I went to Canoga Park from LAX regularly.

I heard there was a fire in the cabin before the crash.

It seems they flew into the hills of Topanga Canyon. As I mentioned above I would travel to Canoga Park that was just north of the crash site. I would drive back to LAX along the PCH by driving through Topanga Canyon on Topanga Canyon Boulevard (27) . The range just rises up in front of you if as you drive south from north of Ventura Boulevard. and when you reach the PCH you just sort of pop through the canyon and the see the ocean in front of you - beautiful sight.

I was absolutely stunned when I heard about it today.

 

The world lost an icon. His wife and daughters lost a whole lot more. Just horrible all the way around.

I hope the woman on MSNBC gets fired for her comments about Kobe and the "Lakers."
