I was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and his death crushed me. I immediately thought back to that day when I heard this news.

Payne Stewart had just won the US Open and helped win the Ryder Cup for America in the months leading up to his death. Not necessarily a legend like Kobe, Dale or Roberto, but still in his prime.
