I know next to nothing about aviation but it seems to me that if the police department grounded their helicopters, all helicopters, other than medical emergency flights should be grounded.

I read that Mark Cuban is retiring the #24 with the Mavs, he said no player would ever wear it.

 

HoF announced that Kobe will be inducted this year, without a vote.

Tomorrow Lakers/Clippers game has been postponed.

I’m upset over Kobe but the loss of his 13 year old daughter really breaks my heart.

 

That girl had 60,70,80 years left to live.

It's weird when celebrity deaths can hit you as hard as sometimes they do. Cried on my way into work this morning.

 

My 86 year old grandpa and 83 year old father both called me last night to talk about Kobe. I'm 34. Dude was legendary and I'm not sure I appreciated him enough until now. This one just feels really though, especially the more I think about his daughter too.

I was never a huge Kobe or Lakers fan but I obviously understand what the man meant to basketball.

 

I’ve found myself thinking about him and just shaking my head several times over the last 2 days.

Local witness said it was the worst fog he’s seen in 17 years of living there yesterday. Concurs my previous post, I really believe the pilot who was flying special visual rules (as we know), was trying to stay low enough to see the ground, that’s the most important thing, and turned right into the hill trying to get out of the weather pattern. He realized it last second and tried to pull into an emergency instrument meteorological condition, which is inherently a dangerous maneuver to save the helicopter, but ran out of altitude and lost control. Sounds like it possibly went down on the rotors, so it was more than likely a quick/sudden fall.

I watched multiple segments from TNT's tribute to Kobe last night.

 

- Jerry West you can tell was super close to Kobe and thought of him as his son. Don't forget Kobe has been estranged from his parents. West looked liked he had been through hell and back. One interesting side note told by West, Kobe to the Clippers was a done deal at one point during Kobe's career when he was upset with Lakers' ownership and management. Jerry West was the one who pleaded with Kobe that he cannot play for the Clippers and "for that owner." This was obviously before the Donald Sterling blowup in 2014.

 

- Shaq's remarks. Man, what can you say. The story of Kobe or Shaq cannot be told without devoting a lot of time to the other player. They are forever intertwined.

 

- Rick Fox was on for a bit when the Lakers/Clippers game was supposed to air. They addressed the false reports of Rick Fox being on the helicopter. Kenny Smith, a fellow-UNC alum and close friend of Fox, broke down thinking back to the emotional roller coaster he went through on Sunday when he thought his pal had died.

Long history. First started with him marrying Vanessa at a young age and them not approving. So much so they didn't show up to his wedding. Also a couple of odd incidents with his folks (mother, specifically) selling his memorabilia without his consent. I am sure there are more to the stories, but that is the short of it all.

Kobe was a devout Catholic. He attended Mass regularly on Sundays even when out of town and away from his parish. Many reports confirm that he did attend Mass hours before the tragic accident.

I, like the rest of the world, was shocked to hear of Kobe's tragic passing. I feel bad for all the families who lost loved ones. Rip to Kobe and His daughter Gigi, along with the other 7. I'm not a major fan of the nba, but I would turn the channel and watch Kobe and Michael Jordan and some of the other big names. I still tune in to watch Lebron James and the UK nba players from time to time.

I read that the helicopter lacked a terrain awareness and warning system which apparently is a key safety feature.
