February 13, 20197 yr You both are absolutely right. They were not just standing around and I was wrong. And yet we still lost on a tip in because no one was guarding the trail guy. Please accept my apology and give UK the win. The guy who tipped it in wasnt even the trail guy. Montgomery was on him on the weak side, and left him to try to block the shot. Which Keldon Johnson got beat, so he had to come over to help out. Washington also left his guy to try to help out. So honestly the biggest problem was Keldon Johnson getting beat. It set everything else in motion.
February 13, 20197 yr Is there a pic showing that. I watched the reply 3 times since you said that. Someone does his the net while swinging their arm forward to try to block the shot. Doesnt look like at all, a hand goes through the rim. You may have seen a replay that shows it, so I'm not doubting you. I just have not seen it yet, if so. There’s a video on twitter but I can’t get the pic to post. Find @jsasser42 on Twitter.
February 13, 20197 yr Will Wade, “I told my guys we’re playing this years UK team, not John Wall or KAT.” Ouch... Not too often a coach gives a team locker room material after a game. No doubt UK has it now though.
February 13, 20197 yr EJ was guilty of goaltending/basket interference also, it’s a wash. Seth Greenburg said that it wouldn't be considered defensive goaltending because the ball wasn't at the rim yet.
February 13, 20197 yr EJ was guilty of goaltending/basket interference also, it’s a wash. Not goaltending. The ball was not in the cylinder.
February 13, 20197 yr Hagans picking up a foul in the first 30 seconds took him totally out of this one. That and the fact that LSU was able to completely hang off him. He had a less than stellar game but looked like he was trying hard. Wondering if some Cats have the flu.
February 13, 20197 yr UK lost the game when Johnson let his man drive the length of the floor and never stopped him or turned him. All he done was dribbled behind his back and right to the rim. You have to make him give up the ball.
February 13, 20197 yr Seth Greenburg said that it wouldn't be considered defensive goaltending because the ball wasn't at the rim yet. The rule apparently says you have to actually touch the ball to be interference when reaching up through the rim. And it can be inside or outside the cylinder. Technically a part of the ball appears to have maybe still been 'in the cylinder'. But the ball had hit backboard and it had already bounced off the rim and already headed away from the basket hard. The center of the ball is well outside the cylinder. So no one is making a goal tend call on a ball like that. Technically, in the most pure form, its probably interference but lots of balls are tipped in without calls that are technically in the cylinder.
February 13, 20197 yr Funny thing is with Louisville failing to put Duke away, I felt like UK lost twice tonight. Not because it was Duke or anything dumb like that, but because that would have enhanced that UL win more for Kentucky.

Call me crazy, I like the international way on this anyway. Cats shouldn't have been in that position to lose.
