We are talking about high school jobs and Coach Sphire has an impressive resume so I am not sure being a collegiate coordinator is necessarily better.

If you are doing ok at Male or Moeller why would you leave for Highlands? Sorry, but you get more and better athletes at those two places. Don't see that run Highlands had about 10-15 years ago happening for a while if ever.

Any Highlands people who know Bert, ever talked to Bert,  or heard him speak realizes he should already be the Highlands head coach. He’s what’s needed. He checked all the boxes.

My understanding was one person on the committee was dead set against Bathiany. Why? Who knows?  Did he have his own selfish reason?
 

They went with the guy that didn’t fit in from Franklin that lasted all of an awkward press conference, the committee disbanded, and then the AD called his old coach. The rest is history. 
 

True or not? Anyone who knows someone on the committee will tell you the exact same story. 
 

Bert should’ve gotten the job! The hiring was botched!

IMO the skills you develop (discipline, time management, teamwork, etc.) and life lessons you learn playing football are more valuable than any class you take. 

Agreed,  but what is he certified to teach in the public school system for all that have him ready to be the guy at HHS?

They massaged positions and upset people to hire the guy they did, so what he teaches can’t be too big of an issue.

Do we have a stand off on the question? I played for a coach who had his flaws, but one wasn’t lack of discipline. He was in the building and he held all of us accountable. I get where people don’t care if the coach is in the building and those who do. My personal opinion is they should be in the building and have some kind of interaction with all students at some point. In high school if you don’t get that common bond with the regular student I don’t think you can get the true feel for the community and how they support the sport you coach.

Are you referring to why Bathiany wasn't hired last time or that certification will be a barrier to his hiring next time?

Certification had little to nothing to do with why he didn't get hired last time. Bathiany was far more qualified to coach the football team than the former principal was to hire a football coach.

Fact, one guy on the hiring committee was ready to hire Bethany after his interview. However, one guy shot it down. No one else on the committee would support hiring Bert. His interview was superior to all the others, not to mention the plan he set forth to get the program back on track. BIG miss for HHS. If Moe hires him they're getting a great coach and mentor.
