The part about having a healthy varsity capable backup makes sense if Benke were to get hurt. A JV game does present a risk of injury as does any live action. It’s a fine line. You have to trust the coach is doing right for the future of the player and making the best decision for the good of the current team at the same time. Both are valid arguments.

Highlands should win. But they could give up another 500 yards passing with that awful, back to the ball, man coverage.

They could’ve been tired. Was just my observation watching 2 teams I hadn’t seen this year.

My first thought moving forward is, will last night be enough to convince coach that his 100% man coverage defensive philosophy is terrible? As a Highlands it was embarrassing to watch. And the fact no one was smart enough to make any adjustments all game is very concerning. Why not mix it up? Dixie should pass every down next week too. In hindsight, it’s now easy to see why Covcath kept converting 3rd and long when they played after getting stuffed trying to run the ball on 1st and 2nd down.

Imo the body language changed. And it looked like the effort from earlier in the game wasn’t there. A lot more reaching and grabbing trying to make tackles. They looked like they accepted they weren’t going to win after Boyle went up 35-21. Rewatch the next offensive and next defensive series after that TD.
