When the NCAA forces a school to vacate a Final Four appearance, or potentially in this case a Championship, does the school have to give back the money?
Not sure but in the case of UL part of the punishments was to pay back some tournament money.

Saw where the NCAA has given UL the option of correcting the 2013 Championship banner or taking it down......look like they chose to correct it!!

However, I do think the tweets of UL fans in 2012 saying how UK's championship is going to be vacated because of Calipari, is a little funny.

Some UL friends of mine said UK should hang the 2012 banner with velcro, among many other derogatory statements concerning Cal.

They should use Velcro.

It'll be easier to shift around when they add more banners.

UL should have never admitted guilt by self imposing sanctions. The investigation would have taken longer and eventually been forgotten about by the media and fans, which in turn would have allowed the NCAA to more less hand down a slight punishment similar to what UL self imposed and been done with it. Since UL came out and admitted guilt on their own, along with the media attention, the NCAA pretty much had to make a more thorough investigation on this. Which IMO, is going to end up leading to a vacated title and 100+ wins. UL has a really good law school, you would think someone would have stepped up and said this is a bad idea.

Does this mean their national championship is going to be vacated?

• A vacation of basketball records in which student-athletes competed while ineligible from December 2010 and July 2014. The university will provide a written report containing the games impacted to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff within 45 days of the public decision release.

Crawford's tweet is imprecise at best and technically incorrect. The NCAA has instructed UofL to provide names within 45 days. Once NCAA gets those names, they will vacate wins and titles.

UofL (Smrt) has apparently said the names UofL would have to provide would include 108 wins and 15 NCAA games (including title).

Precision of language is important in journalism and lacking here.

Is the first quote in this coming directly from the NCAA? As in, the NCAA's wording? Because if that's the case, the language there is rather imprecise. The way that reasds, they are only isolating in on the specific months of Dec. 2010 and July 2014.

It did but they clarified it later to be from dec 2010 to July 2014. Ironically the same time frame Russ Smith played. Matt Jones said he played in his first game in Dec 2010.

The actual report clarifies this a bit, but it is still a little unclear how they ascertain whether an individual game counts toward the punishment. All in all, a report that doesn't exactly add up in my mind, but they have all the power at the end of the day.

What doesn't add up, in your mind?

Does anyone think that UL may still fire Rick?

With the recruiting class he has coming in, he's safe. Perhaps that's part of the reason he has decided to bring in potential one and dones.

For what was done to warrant these penalties, I really don't see how anyone could really dispute any penalties. After all, the U.L. was basically running and financing a Brothel (for lack of a more descriptive term) for student athletes. I will say to anyone that honestly believes that R. Pitino didn't know what was happening that they're living in the land of Oz and for Dorothy to click her heels 3 times and say there's no place like home.

I do feel for the players that had nothing to do with it that has to pay for what others did ...that's a hard life lesson to take but a real one.

O.K., I admit that I can't quit w/o one shot ....U.L. basketball ...Remember when "getting up" for the game used to be kind of a spiritual thing ? :sssh:

Now I'm done. :sneaky:

If they strip UL's title then UNC better be really nervous.

.... I see what you did there ... ;)

Losing 108 wins will take them from the 10th most wins to 25th. Right behind Oregon State.
