Pretty sure the only way either Lee or Lewis could've played this year was to become a graduate transfer at another school. You can't gain an extra year of eligibility at your current school by becoming a graduate student. At least that's my understanding of it.

Lee had another year of eligibility. He redshirted a year. I don't think you can add the fifth year by transferring. 5 to play 4.

 

Both players are in their fifth year and have only played 3.

Not in all cases. He has not discussed his Fancy Farm picnic escapades from this summer. Nor has his press buddies and partners in indulgences. It'll come out sooner than later. I don't think anyone get's a 5th season of playing. The rule is that if you graduate you can transfer to a school that offers a degree that your current school doesn't and you don't have to sit out a year...but you still only get to play 4 seasons total. They get the 5th moniker instead of SR or JR because they have already graduated.

I have a good friend that is an ACC guy through and through...texted me and said that Louisville was already considered Hillbillies by the rest of the ACC and this entire mess doesn't help them any in the eyes of other ACC fans.

U of L was a better academic for that WVU, no? Football is similar, better basketball product obviously.

 

UConn is similar basketball wise but not nearly the football program.

Jones seems to have an insider at UL feeding him info.

But the concern is that then the NCAA sees the public report that Smrt has to prepare when the investigation is finished and they find out that UofL knew for certain on February 4 that they were in violation and they did nothing. They're getting out in front in hopes of reducing subsequent punishment from the NCAA. This isn't the end, it's trying to lessen the blow here at the beginning.

 

I will say this makes sense if all you care about is the program and not the kids. I mean if I was advising what is best for the program this is the correct move. Probably every university in America would do the same. But when a program does something like this it's hard to look a parent in the eye and say your kid matters most.

 

Again so we are clear I'm not saying if I was in leadership I'd do anything different. But the move clearly says Louisville cares more about the brand than the kids wearing the jersey.

Anyway, Tony Kornheiser says the 1 year self imposed ban won't be enough for the NCAA. So he has his own plan, a final four of UL, SMU, Syracuse, and UN...errr UK. What a tool. ESPN at it's finest, protect UNC to the fullest extent of their ability, but find a way to throw a jab at Cal and UK in the process lol.
