I'm a die hard UK football fan who watches every game from beginning to end no matter how bad we are getting beat. With that being said, the way UK fans treat/act toward Pat is ridiculous. He cared more than anyone on the field every game. I honestly wouldn't care if he went to another SEC school and came back and torched us because of this. Huge fan of his and will follow him wherever he ends up.

 

He does care. He is a class act at that. Also I wouldn't care if he went to an sec school and torched us next year. In fact, I would be happy for him.

 

That said, I still don't think he is our best option at qb with what we have to work with on offense at the moment. I also care about UK football, but that doesn't make me a sec qb.

Towles is a very good talent who hasn't worked with an offensive guru since high school. At UK you have below average, to average on a good day coaching and no offensive line.

I get what your saying. But to be fair to the guys doing the recruiting, they have made huge commitment to recruiting linemen. They have several of the top targets in the country verbally committed at the moment. Whether those guys honor that commitment or not and actually sign the paperwork i dunno. But the staff is at least trying to bring help in.

The air raid offense is exactly the type of offense that you run when you don't have the offensive line to compete with the defensive lines in your conference. Mumme did a decent job with it at UK and Leach has kept Texas Tech and Washington State competitive with it when he didn't have the horses up front to run a pro offense.

I guess I'll have to do the homework for you, but its midnight and I have to work in the morning, so it won't be tonight. If it holds up, this is the best class of linemen I've seen UK get in my lifetime though.

Landon Young- 4 Star OT- 113th best prospect nationally, 13th best tackle nationally.

 

Drake Jackson- 4 Star C- 138th best prospect nationally, 2nd best center nationally.

 

Tate Leavitt- 3 Star T- 19th best JUCO prospect nationally, 4th best JUCO T. Probably starts from day 1.

 

Luke Fortner- 3 Star T- Not as highly touted as the others.

 

These guys to go along with Big George the true Frosh from this season, he looks good. Cole Mosier returns, he's solid. They also redshirted a couple big boys from last years class.

I will say it again,,,,Baker is the problem. Give him his walking papers. Off the field issues and talks way too much for a dude that cannot catch a cold.

Here is the thing Towles had had 2 years to prove himself and for 2 years he has been inconsistent with his play getting worst as the year goes on. Towles has more interceptions than touchdowns this year and barely completing 50 percent of his passes. So while he was not the only problem, very few qbs keep their job without the coaches at least looking at someone else along the way.

 

With Barker they didn't know what they had until he played. Which after two games you still don't know what you have. His second half looked like second halves that Towles has had too and that is not being close to completing a pass.

 

The fact that Towles TD-INT ratio is flipped can be pinpointed 100% to how bad Dawson is in comparison to Neal Brown. No QB regresses that much, on top of that the scheme is horrendous, and the line is horrendous which makes for bad and forced throws. Then again we can talk about the drops over and over again, which then force more tight throws which lead to interceptions.

 

Yes I saw things that Towles did that a QB at his level should not be throwing like throwing to the single receiver in a 3x1 set when the defense is sitting in a 2 high look, or doing the exact opposite when the defense rolls the safety down into the box pre snap. Thing is, these are things that should be ironed out by a coach and if he doesn't know where to throw the ball that is on the coaches, or his wide outs not creating separation.

Teams are playing straight man to man on the recievers and rushing 7. Sorry I should have elaborated a little more. What I mean though is teams would drop linebackers into coverage a lot more with Towles than they do against LSU currently. Then keep the safeties deep so Towles can't throw over the top, but then Fournette will have all day to run. He won't be getting touched. I mean it's still an if as to whether Towles will be able to do this, but he certainly has the intangibles to be able to and for most coaches that is enough to at least take a shot on a kid. Les has never had a great QB, but his best teams are when he has a big strong armed QB to stretch the defense.

 

Please stop, teams do not play man to man against running teams. You play man to man, you get ZERO run support from the secondary. Most teams like to play Cover 2 vs run teams.

Not really a talent, but I guess we can add it to the list.

 

I heard a college coach once say, "You can't teach size and smarts." PT is big, has a cannon for an arm, is decently mobile for his size, can take punishment, and most important he is very smart! College coaches love this and think they can make any kid with this skill set into the next Peyton Manning. I can definitely see PT at a Michigan, Stanford, big time power 5 conference team next year.
