Patrick Towles Transferring

Featured Replies

Towles is not very good, but neither is UK, I hope they both do better apart then they did together. In his defense I think the Staff at UK and the Offense especially is a hot mess. Not on the same page, and sure of themselves and in the SEC that loses.

How can a guy who threw for over 3,000 yards with with 20 plus TD and maybe 10 Ints. the previous year be considered "not very good." He's a good player and if a good player is not performing maybe the coaches should put him in a position to be successful.

At the end of the day, Stoops did not recruit Towles. Next year is a huge make or break season for Stoops, so he's going to determine his fate with the players he recruited; it's that simple. Once they named Barker the starter, it was time for Patrick to find a new home if he wanted to continue his college career.

He is very exciting I knew every time he dropped back something cool was gonna happen, a receiver was going to make a great catch (due to having to find the off target ball), The receiver was going to get blown up (due to being thrown into coverage), Catch a 60 yd bomb (due to never throwing a short on intermediate pass), or throw a interception (due to well you know), or an awful drop, (due to poor timing).

Now some of this may be coaching, some this may be recievers, some of this may be pressure, but to me sums up Towles qb play.

He didn't throw for over 3,000 yards or 20+ TD's last year.

Not very nice, but there is truth in there.

Kentucky fans are loyal to a fault...Jeff Brady is a good example of the NFL finding someone that didn't hit the radar, an outlier for sure.

I believe Towles is better than he has had an opportunity to show and I believe it has to do with a number of reasons.

It is wholly unfair to put UK's "failure" on Patrick Towles shoulders. This program is not good, the coaches are average at best (I don't care if your name is Stoops or not) and ultimately I think we got what we expected from UK football this year.

If you expected more, then you are a total homer for UK.

I'm not trying to say Towles isn't good enough. I'm just saying in general I think sometimes people can over exaggerate how good of a player is because they truly want that player to be that good since they are a ky boy. So when that person doesn't look as good in college, people say well it has to be the coaching.

Your stats are not even close to being right.

Last Year:

Threw for 2718

Rushed for 303

Threw 14 TD's

Rushed for 6

Threw 9 Ints

*Fun Fact-threw 159 consecutive passes without a pick, good enough for second longest streak in school history*

Yards- total yards he was above 3000

TD's-Didnt throw 20, but totaled 20

INT's- was below 10

I'm not going to say that LTR was entirely right, but he wasn't too far off either.

We agree. I don't know if that is the case here with Towles, but in principal I do agree with you

He said he threw for over 3,000 yards and 20+ TD's. That doesn't imply that we are counting rushing stats.

I am aware of that. I also said that he wasn't entirely correct in his remarks.

He was using those number to justify the claim that Towels wasn't all that bad. Do adding his rushing stats take away from that point? Look at the list of other UK quarterbacks who achieved similar numbers, and tell me what you think of them.

I know people some may want to ignore it. However Towles did start last year off well, but after that starting with the last 6 games of last year and all of this season he has not done well at all. In his last 6 games last year he threw only 4 tds and had 5 interceptions. Basically in his last 16 games as the starting QB at UK he has only throw 13 Tds. and has had 18 interceptions. So yes his numbers are really off based and tried to round his numbers up to make it better. Very easily could round the numbers down in some areas and say last year he threw for only 2500 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. You see how that would look bad, while him rounding up made it look really good. The reality of the situation he started off last season well, but then his play well down hill the last 6 games last year and it carried over to this year.

The fact of the matter is his numbers at UK are not good at all. So I will disagree with people who try to say it was everyone else and not him because the numbers don't lie. I also will disagree with the people who act like it was only him and that he doesn't have some talent. However he needs a lot of right things around him to do well. He played a big part in how bad the offense has played the last two years, but was not the only part. I do think it is a good split for him and UK, and I do think in the right situation he can do well.

Lets compare apples to apples

Jared Lorenzen UK 2000-2003

2000- passing yards 3687 19 TD 21 int

2001 passing yards 2179 18 TD 7 int

2002 passing yards 2267 24 TD 5 int

2003 2221 passing yards 16 TD 8 int

Jered weighed 275 lbs and was 6'4" 2003 season

While looking at the stats, Jered had much better receivers and o-line.

Jerod got a super bowl ring with the Giants.

I think I spelled Jared every way possible. LOL
