Two issues with Dawson's play calling still.

1. He needs to btter leveragei of the run game or short/screen passes to the backfield outside the 10 yard line so that defenses can not focus on the pass coverage.

2. He needs to resist the temptation to 'take his shot' on first down from 40 yards out on first down. This is a consistant tendency that teams must be aware of by now. Its great when it works, if it works. But it has not so far and then the tendency is run on 2nd down and then get in trouble with a 3rd and long.

People have to realize that when deep passes are thrown it is not always just the play caller saying let's throw deep. There are multiple route combinations on each play, and where the ball is thrown comes down to the qb. I doubt Dawson is telling Towles where to throw. The last two years Towles has shown he loves throwing the deep ball and if he gets a look he likes he will take his chance down field no matter the situation. So when it comes to the deep ball it is not just Dawson saying we are taking a shot. Most pass plays has someone going deep. It just then comes down to the qb and the coverage on where the ball is thrown.

How about Juice Johnson!

How about Juice Johnson!

Been a stud so far. He's the best WR on the team. Baker drops way too many passes.

Defense a no show in the 1st half was a killer. The trenches on both sides were won big time by Auburn. I thought we counted 7 drops. Unacceptable. I sure wish Towels would keep trying to hit the TE Conrad in the middle and the seams. When he's went there while not nearly enough, it's been money most of the time. Frustrating, but Cats are heading in the right direction. Oh so close.

Even If Badet was open the way he dropped balls I'd try and make it with my feet if I'm PT.

1 min left 1st down at midfield and you run a Play Action 5 yard out? They know you have to pass so why run play action? Then the 2nd and 5 run that was snuffed out. Good lord Dawson has been bad when it counts. Takes me back to the Florida game at the end of the 3rd qtr when PT drivers em down the field on some key passes and then he decides to run the ball 3 straight times. Just mind boggling.

UK is making strides. Just not there yet.

Towles has NFL arm strength. A few of those opposite hash throws to get 1st downs had NFL zip on em.

Yes, yes he does.

When he has time, he is extremely good.

They were not flashy highlight worthy plays, but Towles threw into some incredibly tight windows cross field. I was impressed.

Often what separates good teams from bad teams is the ability to convert 3 points to 7 when the field narrows.

Disagree.

He's dead on, like it or not. UK has the speed to compete but they are quite a bit behind on both lines of scrimmage and special teams.

This roster is still so flawed. The coaching is actually covering some of that up, they aren't perfect, nobody is.

The reason Dawsons play calling is so confusing sometimes is because he is trying to deal with the fact that we are using smoke and mirrors to hide that our OL is bad. And that Pat is a limited post snap passer who has NFL arm talent but forces the ball to his first read too much.

Pat looks inconsistent because A. He isn't good at progression reads post snap.

B. We can't run the ball from 4 wide so the defense tee's off.

C. He doesn't trust the OL

Defensively DJ and Stoops make good adjustments, I just can't figure out why the team looked so un-prepared and un-motivated on the first 2 drives. A lot of it has to be on the kids. That's 2 weeks in a row the defense has come out sleepwalking. I know they can coach because they make the adjustments and get them to play harder later in the games.

Disagree.

Wow, thats amazing that someone can think U.K. has more talent than Auburn right now. Wow.

I think Dawson does a good job of play calling. I will be one of the few that actually like the run play on 2nd down. It is a quick play and you pick up first and able to spike on 1st down. Its only a bad call because it didnt work.

UK fans be mad at Stoops. He hasnt been able to manage a clock his entire time at UK. The end of the Half was an example. Also late in the game.

497 yards of offense

Need more than 27 points out of that.

It's close.

The fact is Auburns 4 year cumulative recruiting rank is #8 while U.K is #37. Don't let delusion get in the way of numbers.
