October 18, 201511 yr Yes 10 game series TCU v Auburn who wins? TCU is more talented, (coaching is probably about even), and they don't get anywhere near the * recruits that Auburn gets. Getting highly rated recruits doesn't guarantee success. If it did Tennessee would never struggle and Boise would have never been a major player on the national stage.
October 18, 201511 yr A side note on TCU is they don't really recruit positions. Their approach is to recruit athletes and then coach them up at a position. So the kid might be a 3 star QB but they change him to a DB or WR. They are looking for the best athletes that they can get. The recruiting star system is based on a player at a position in most cases which in the end affects their ranking. What if you looked at just the stats such as height, weight, speed and strength and compare.
October 20, 201511 yr One game any team can win. Over the course of a season, the most talented team wins. 10 game series, Ole Miss wins most of the games, wouldn't you agree? I would not agree, and I don't agree that Ole Miss is more talented. They played a game and take away the 14 point Miss. lead to start and Memphis dominated 37-10 the rest of the way. It wasn't smoke and mirrors. The SEC is simply not as dominating as many would like to think.

While the SEC may get the top of the top recruits, that doesn't mean there are not other really good players throughout the rest of the country. The SEC is not as "dominating" as they were the last 5-10 years, which is all the more reason for UK to start taking advantage of their opportunities now.

I agree, and I was not intending to bash the SEC, but they are not at the level as a league that they were say two years ago. That doesn't mean they won't be back there next year, but that is how I see it this year. Having grown up between Oxford and Memphis, I know both programs very well. Miss. is a storied program with a rich history. However, in modern days, they are year in/out a middle rung SEC program. They are marginally better than Memphis to start the year, then it becomes a matter of which team has the worse attrition of starters. No doubt for Miss. that was impacted even during the game when their star defensive lineman went out with a concussion. From that point onward, the balance of talent moved towards Memphis. Kentucky is very much like these teams in this regard.
