October 16, 201511 yr Anyone noticed that Navier leaving has not really helped the special teams play at all? Anyone who's played or been around college football knows that special teams play falls on the head coach. I tried to tell people that back when Naivar was the scapegoat for every mishap on special teams. Yes the designated coach coordinates the special teams, but ultimately it's the head coach that approves every move and oversees the execution in practice. I have been around many college football programs and I have yet to see one do it any other way. It's a stoops problem and until he fixes it, we will continue to lose heartbreaking games
October 16, 201511 yr The announcers last night said the kicker was dealing with a groin injury, and that's why his kicks were short. Groin pull or not, UK should be all over the kicker from Highlands. I'll assume he is a senior.

October 16, 201511 yr IMO, he needs to be much quicker off the snap. Multiple times last night he was the last lineman out of his stance. Completely agree, I am not sure why they even put him in the game at this point. When he game in for goal line D he was getting pushed 2-3 yards off the ball.

My son has been the longsnapper at EKU for the past 4 seasons so I know exactly how the special teams work. :thumb:
October 16, 201511 yr So you are saying that since rankings of players coming out of high school that are based off of peoples opinions, mean those players were and are more talented? It couldn't be that possibly those people who evaluated had opinions that were wrong on just how talented a player truly was coming out? Your whole thing right now in terms of talent is being based off of peoples opinions of players coming out of high school. It doesn't make it a fact that those players are and were more talented. So no using the rankings of players out of high school especially in football doesnt mean a team definitely had the more talent. Yep. What makes it fact is the statistical correlation the group rankings have with winning. I hate math but its math. :idunno:
October 16, 201511 yr The announcers last night said the kicker was dealing with a groin injury, and that's why his kicks were short. A big time D-I school should have a kicker that can get a touchback on the majority of their kickoffs--even if they aren't accurate enough to use on field goals. You don't want to give SEC kick returners a shot at all.
October 16, 201511 yr I thought PT looked really good in the 2nd half (didn't see the first half) but he made a really bad decision on that 4th down run. Can't do it against speedy SEC DL and LBs. He made some great throws in the game though. Played well enough to get the W but still needs to be smarter. Gotta give a WR a shot, unless it's a wide open first down run imo
October 16, 201511 yr Gotta give a WR a shot, unless it's a wide open first down run imo It looked like he predetermined if he got pressure immediately he was going to try to scramble for the first. Tough thing to do in that spot, he wanted to make a play, just can't make that kind of play in that kind of situation.
October 16, 201511 yr What was mark stoops going off about the whole game!? Fade throw to Baker in the west end zone should have drawn 2 flags, 1 for holding and 1 for pass interference. He got neither. Stoops was livid for at least 5 minutes

I knew that you had been around CFB with your son playing for eastern. Wasn't a shot at you

October 16, 201511 yr Michael Rudolph @MRudolphComedy Football fans complaining about last night's loss to Auburn is a good thing.....now there is a winning expectation. That's a positive Thats my boy Rudolph!!! Good dude....
October 16, 201511 yr Completely agree, I am not sure why they even put him in the game at this point. When he game in for goal line D he was getting pushed 2-3 yards off the ball. I watched him on several plays. Was not impressed. On the TD run in the 2nd half, he was late off the snap, handled single-handed by the C or OG, pushed back 2-3 yds and then shoved to the ground "I've fallen and I can't get up" style as the RB started to celebrate the TD. Color me unimpressed since seeing him live at John Hardin in HS. Pick in the end zone was a poor decision and poor execution. Scan 10 feet to the right and Juice Johnson (what a name) is 2 steps in front of his guy on basically the same route with nobody out in front of him (that I could see from the camera angle). Towles looked good for lots of plays. Drops were down & distance & momentum killers. Need to convert those. Staying in bounds on 1st down - stupid execution of a stupid play call. Run on 2nd down was too big of a risk -- particularly when they didn't urgently gain the LOS to run the 3rd down play. 4th down -- cannot try to run that. Feel pressure & leave the pocket to the left. Keep running parallel to the LOS and wait for a receiver to come open or draw a flag. Worst case, try to fit it in a hole to get a completion / draw a flag. On 4th down that late in the game, there is no use going to the ground with the ball. Even if you try to lateral it backward to a lineman, you at least keep the play alive for a "Stanford band" type of event.
