  1. Cooper went to a nationally known prep school, coached by-practiced with some of the best in the nation, & raised his stock nationwide by doing so. Seems like the adults did ok
  2. I understand the rule, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Kid goes to a school, leaves for a year, comes back to the same school...why shouldn't he be eligible?
  3. Game of the Week | Trinity at Lafayette | | USA Today High School Sports This article from Jason Frakes has some interesting comments from Beatty, 1. He said the quarterback might be the most athletic kid that he's had at the position 2. He seems really committed to the run game. Says something along the lines of not caring if they have one pass attempt....seems like a stark contrast to prior T offenses. Can anyone speak on these? How does everyone feel about the philosophy change, Blackburn's talents?
  4. Curt was probably one of my favorite kids to coach at Next Up's camp. Loved his game, can do a little bit of everything with +athleticism. His drive & competiveness is his most impressive. Whatever his potential is he'll reach it...one of those kids that "gets it". Jay is a very impressive player, it's evident that the kid has major game. As far as pro potential, I didn't think had the highest ceiling in the camp so either we had about 10-15 guys w pro potential or this is a little bit of an overstatement. Also, I hate to bring this up as I don't want to perpetuate rumors, but some kids at camp when asked about Jay said that he might have some issues with grades. I have no way of knowing if it's true or not, hopefully transferring to Trinity set him on the right track in that regard.
  5. Here's that Peyton Broughton dunk...Peyton Broughton serves up a facial DUNK at NUR 2
  6. That explains a lot....I was wondering where quite a few kids went at a certain point...also explains why Timmy Dalton didn't make it
  7. Another thing that I missed in my original post....Hoptown has just a ridiculous collection of talent. There were like 8-10 kids from there & they all could ball
  8. He did, he works hard, I was impressed by his touch & his ability to run a little bit despite his size...as for the kids that were left out that you mentioned....I must've missed them? Look, there are going to be misses when you run a camp for a day & pick all stars based off that, but looking at the top 20 & top 40 all star games, it seemed like we had the best kids at the camp competing....shoot just look at the kid Ollie Eutsey from Franklin Simpson. I was talking to Taylor & he said that no one knew who he was coming in & he got a top 40 spot...believe what you want. As far as some coaches having connections to kids, I mean yes we had a Hargrave guy coaching, but it was easy to see the Hargrave kids that attended were among the best in the camp.
  9. No politics, everyone had a sheet and wrote down their top 40 kids & turned it in. The top 40 kids w/ the most "points" got selected.
  10. I was blessed enough to have an opportunity to coach at next up's camp on Saturday. I say blessed because the gym was full of 206 kids that were itching at the chance to compete and get better. I came away a really impressed by the overall talent level...especially the Kentucky kids. In my estimation I think there was 15-20 kids w d1 potential and just about every camper could play ball somewhere if they wanted (granted they have to keep working). Over the recent years, I haven't been able to watch too much HS bball so it was nice to see a couple kids that I had already heard about through the grapevine or on here. Here's a list of kids that I marked down as impressing me throughout the day..... Taiveyhon Mason 2017 Christin County (The kid is small, but really gets after it. Absolute pest on D.) Junthean Cuningham 2017 JTown (Extreme athlete w some skill as well. Has a bit of a football build. I hope he does w that athleticism) Danny Butt 2018 Pulaski County (Great shooter, really competed....had an open spot in my drill to play defense & he volunteered right away...also had to do up downs because his team couldn't get a stop! Not his fault though. Also, really impressed me with his post up game...that's what opened my eyes to him before I even saw him shoot.) Devon Cooper 2017 Findlay Prep (Transfer from waggener to Findlay....can definitely tell that's he's had a year at prep school...a lot of polish to his game) Timmy Dalton 2017 Lawrence County ( probably one of my favorite players at camp. I was amazed when he didn't make any of the 2 all star games. Good athlete & leader. Had a couple "wow" moves in the game portion of camp.) Jayden Scrubb 2018 Trinity (Good athlete, can ball) Caleb Williams 2017 Eastern (Skilled, competitor, versatile) James Baker 2017 Meade County (Skilled, long, good athlete. He has slot of potential) Trace Young 2017 Cordia? (Definitely saw what all the hype was about with this kid. Kids seemed to gravitate towards him) Oumar Keita 2018 Cordia (The big guy has a lot of skill for his size....a very good passer, nice fee for the game) Braxton Beverly 2017 Hargrave (Once again saw the hype with him...) Anthony Nelson 2017 Cordia (Really smooth, I liked his game. Can be a little too smooth at times, though.) Peyton Broughton 2017 North Laurel (If I had to pick a player that I was most impressed w/ it probably was him. Had a dunk when I coached his team for a game that was just DIRTY. The kid that was defending might have nightmares for a few weeks.) Tre King 2018 (didn't have a school listed) Very nice player...at could do it all on the court Ollie Eutsey 2017 Franklin-Simpson (Verrry athletic...had a motor that wouldn't stop. Played his way from an unknown into an allstar appearance) There were many more that I wrote down on my all star selection sheet that I turned in. These are the guys that caught my eye initially, that were marked on my camp roster that I still have. No doubt I missed a TON with this list..
  11. I'm just passing along what I heard today at mercy....I wasn't there nor do I know anything about the girl involved
  12. if the rumor that I'm hearing about what was said to provoke the girl is true, I'm not so sure that I blame her....
  13. Eastern just has soooo much quality depth. They might not have a McCune or a Green, but the waves of people that they can throw at you has to be overwhelming. Really, I think that SHA just got worn down as the game went on, they played about 6 maybe 7 players while eastern only had 2 players play 25 minutes.
  14. Mishler will be eligible for the rest of the season after this game. She got cleared and had to wait 15 days to participate and the game last night just so happened to fall on the 15th day.
  15. After watching just this scrimmage, I would have to say that Woosley would be the leader to start. Like multiple posters stated before, Larry was shaky to start, even though he did rally somewhat. His height is just a major detriment at this point and his arm didn't really seem very strong. From my vantage point standing behind the end zone, you could see that he has real trouble seeing over the line sometimes (which, now that I think about it isn't a huge deal because T rolls the QB so much). With all this said though, whoever plays will have success as the skill talent around them will be off the charts good. Old-School, you were spot on about Rodjay being the best player on the field. Robinson did flash some very impressive top end speed though, he definitely has tools. Defense, nothing really to say, they're very good.
  16. There was a kid in cinci that I guess had his scholly pulled from him once he got injured. My friend that went to Kings told me about it a while back. I don't how too much about the situation I'm sure CF could tell us more....
  17. Kids having an injury and getting their scholarship pulled would be a program issue based on the coaches and their philosophies about it. That could happen to any kid regardless of age, rank, number of varsity games played, whatever so I don't see how that applies. I can't speak for the 7th grader, but I'm guessing Reg is around 6'2" ish 200 pounds running a 4.44 college coaches would take that everyday of the week.
  18. Also heard that Cody Swabek was named skill player MVP at West Virginia's camp last week. Him and Reggie are going to be a tough combination to stop
  19. Just adding this in In case you all haven't heard....Reg ran a 4.44 at Louisville's qb camp the other day. That's some big time speed
  20. Also congrats to drew! I look outward to watching the show on ESPN
  21. Reggie didn't make the cut but not due to his performance at the camp. Reggie made top group, and was discussed as a candidate for the "pressure cooker" drill but the coaches decided Against it because of Reggie's lack of game film. I heard it out of Trent Dilfer's mouth that reg would have been put into that drill and would have definitely had a shot at the finals if not for that because the one day regional isn't everything that goes into the selection process. He went on to say that he definitely sees what Louisville saw in him. So a bit of a tough break but a great showing for a guy who some people think will change positions once he gets to college.
  22. How good is Stotts? I've heard of him because I go to Lindsey Wilson, some of the locals have told me about him but I haven't had the chance to see him play.
  23. I remember watching film of Kelan playing a freshman game against trinity a while back. He can definitely go get it. If he comes back out you can definitely count on him being a top prospect.
  24. Whatever happened to trey gundy? I always thought he was the most talented of the Henry Clay trio.
