You Rank 'Em: Top 10 2018 players in Kentucky

Featured Replies

Since all of today's discussion is centered on 2018 players Steven Fitzgerald and Trevon Faulkner, I propose we rank them. So post your top 10 2018 kids in the state of Kentucky. Rank them however you wish. I'm ranking mine based on high school production and college potential. I'll start:

1. Andrew Taylor

2. Trevon Faulkner

3. Mickey Pearson

4. Steven Fitzgerald

5. JJ Reed

6. Ahmad Price

7. Justin Mitchell

8. Danny Butt

9. Trey Hill

10. Steven "Shorty" Cager

How is Jalen Johnson getting left off these lists? He's been running the point for Hopkinsville for the last 2 years, definitely their best returning player and I'd say top 3-4 in the region.

I'm not a big fan of his. I've seen him play several times and he's always jacking up 3s while rarely hitting. And I've watched him at HS and AAU levels. I prefer Cager. He affects the game more with the way he pushes the tempo and how he can lock up defensively.

I'm interested to know how good the Coomer kid is at Barren County. I've never seen him play.

I only saw him play 2 times last year but I like his size, 6' 5ish looked to me, and has a nice shot. Of all the ones on my list, he is the one I know the least about, but I like his upside from what I saw.

Like I said I think this is a pretty good class and deep overall. The margin between 1-15 is so small; I don't know if there is any one player with some real separation. I do like Andrew Taylor though...if you haven't seen this kid play, please do. Uncanny ability to do a lot of things. Defense could get better; but not much he can't do on the court.

Agree with your list. But, you are missing Hayden Shelton at Apollo High School. Top sharpshooter in 3rd Region. I hear the Hayden kid at Catholic is solid as well. Only Sophomore to make All 3rd Region. Nice size 6'4" player and coached by Tim Riley.

Could someone please list the respective schools each of these players plays for? Thanks.

Adam Kunkel is no doubt a top 10 player in the state. Finally getting the well deserved recognition while playing with the Travelers against some of the top competition in the country.

Which of those 10 do you have him in front of?

Respectfully disagree on Shelton. I just don't think he's very good. Haven't seen Hayden. Would be interested to see how good he is.
