All will be big time opponents probably ranked in the Top 4 or 5 teams in their class

Always wanted to go to Belfry. Planning a trip there next year. Too busy watching the Birds this year to go.

Belfry looks awesome, definitely want to make it there some time.

 

I went to Belfry for the first time two years ago and it was awesome. Great facilities, great fans, and it was a state semifinal so a great game. I'd recommend anyone go if you have the chance.

If we are talking concessions, I'll nominate my alma mater. The Raceland grub is second to none.

The Stadium of Champions is not that bad of a place to play. Christian Co. and Hoptown both play there. I like it better that Highlands. Now I would rank Highlands in the top 5 if we were talking home field advantage. That place is just hard to win at.

With money for education being what it is, how are these stadiums paid for in some of the smaller counties, and is money diverted from the education area or budget to finance these? A lot of money for just a few times a year's use.

IDK but I do recall that the new McCracken County High School originally had plans for a larger football stadium but the DOE squashed that plan telling them that they would have to figure out financing on their own for anything other than the standard metal 20 yard line to 20 yard line stadium that you see at many of the new schools

Wow, easy one for me... Trinity's Marshall Stadium!! Although loved seeing Highlands for the first time last year, such a great venue, very cool!! Highlands is definitely my #2

Highlands was an incredible place to play. That's my all time favorite place to play. It's not even close.

 

FWIW, I went to CovCath.

Not Highlands bashing here but that place is awful. Nothing but respect for all the program has accomplished from me. But..the far side is a brick wall of the school. Locker rooms are awful. Fans have to literally walk in the visitor sidelines. To small and cramped to make list of best fields. Best program list absolutely, but field not a chance.

 

Hence why it is such a great "gameday" stadium. Not meant to be cozy for the visiting teams.

Cozy? The visitor fans sit with the home fans.

With tall that it's still one of my favorite venues to watch a game. Great environment. Cozy.

 

I've never witnessed nor heard of an incident with fans and the visitors' sideline.

My Jr. year we used the old visitor locker rooms where you had to walk through the restrooms to get into them. That is Red Auerbach/Old Boston Garden's type stuff. I absolutely loved it. It was the last BIG NewCath/Highlands game. That was the year that Highlands took off from very good to great.

Last time I was at T's stadium was when Quick, Dawkins and company were seniors. I got "the feel" while walking into the stadium. I don't know if it was the stadium or just knowing what my Birds were up against. Either way the stadium is top shelf and the players and fans will treat you like family. One of the best for sure. :thumb:

I have visited Harlan County many times, but the new stadium there is breathtaking. I love what they've done. It's definitely the nicest in Eastern Kentucky.
