Henderson County. Loudest home crowd I've ever played against.

 

I was at Henderson County for the first time last year and I was a bit disappointed. Can't put my finger on why but it didn't live up to the hype I'd hard about it.

Maybe the opponent and how the game played out quelled the atmosphere somewhat.

Played in Region Championship their in 2004. Loudest crowd I've ever heard.

I'm not even talking about that. The game turned out like I expected. I'm talking more about the stadium itself. I've heard some on here talk about what a great facility it was. I was not impressed.

Campbell's stadium is horrible. The entrance, concession and patio is too small for a big school. It gets way too congested there. Field looks great though and I love the video board. But horrible for amenities.

 

They should look to Dixie or Scott for fan comfort.

I have read through this and those claiming their candidates as the best and indeed are awesome facilities. I have seen first hand most if not all of them while pushing through those communities in route to the State Championship.

 

Because I am a diehard Highlands fan, nothing reeks more of Tradition and Winning than that of DCM which houses the 2nd most winningest football program in the Nation and the most storied program in KY #1 in KY

 

If you have never been there then you have not seen the most intimidating and home field advantage venue in this great state of KY...JMO: :thumb:

As a stadium by itself, Beechwood's stadium is very cool now. The athletic fieldhouse is right behind the home sideline and the school cafeteria with it's wall of tinted windows give a private box look in one end zone. I will try to get pictures and post them. The stadium is a bowl and when you get a top opponent in there it is a great atmosphere.

 

Stadiums I have visited that I really enjoyed:

 

Belfry - This is one of the most memorable stadiums I have ever been too. It would definitely be in the top 3 and probably is #1 for me.

 

Mayfield - It is a great atmosphere. The stadium itself is just ok but I have seen great crowds there and the end zone tailgating is kind of neat.

 

Highlands - Definitely unique being crammed in right next to the school. Always a good crowd there. The cannon was another unique feature in the past but I understand why it is no longer used.

 

Dayton - The stadium and field could use an upgrade but it is a unique depression era built stadium with cool stone features in the entry and concessions. You will never be closer to the field in any other stadium.

 

Elizabethtown - I believe the old stadium has been replaced now. The stadium itself was just ok but the grass field was the best grass football field I have ever seen. It looked like a golf green.

 

Frankfort - Facilities wise, just ok. In fact, the visitor stands are just acceptable. But you are close to the field and they have tailgating alongside the field. Their PA guy can be a little annoying calling out first downs like they are touchdowns but it is a good atmosphere.

 

There are several new stadiums in N. Ky. that are very nice but I can't say there is anything unique or a great atmosphere that would put them in my top stadiums.

As a team and as a school Highlands is extremely impressive. The stadium? Not so much. Tiny stands, all bleachers, a single small pressbox, no gate or archway, and it's jammed right up next to the school. The concession stand and restroom situation didn't impress me when I was there either.

 

A powerful team doesn't make a stadium better simply because they call it home.

Simon Kenton is a fun place to be on Friday night. SK is 17 and 1 at home the last 3 seasons and a 14 game win streak at home.

 

True, but it is ugly as sin.

Also, and I know that this is Kentucky only, but from a pure architectural perspective, Withrow High School in Cincinnati has the best looking stadium that I have been to.

Only school that I can think of with 2 concession stands.

 

Trinity has 2 and a temp one they bring in for big games.

 

Most of the larger public schools in Jefferson County have 2.

 

I've never been to X for a football game but I believe they have one on each end of their stadium.

 

I could swear, but may be wrong that Highlands had one next to the stands and one in the building.

 

I'm pretty sure Henderson County had 2.

 

That's just off the top of my head early in the morning.

 

Maybe if SK would play some larger schools you'd see?
