I was always partial to Rockcastle County's place.

Personal preference, but I prefer the older, smaller, in town stadiums that are more common in some of the small schools. That's certainly not a knock on beautiful facilities like Belfry, Harlan County, and some others.

It is a good one. When they were really good and would walk down the hill to the end zone you knew it was going to be a beating.

Johnson Central has one of the best home field advantages in the state. Brand new facilities, a nice turf field, fireworks, great soundtrack and a very enthusiastic announcer make it a fun place to watch a game. Dimmed lights, all black unis, dark colored football, music so loud that you can't hear the QB in the huddle, and blank game film dvds make it very hard to stop the Golden Eagle's multi back rushing game.

Gotta be brutally honest - I despise War Memorial Stadium. Not despise in terms of "your team must have lost" - Warren Central won the only two times I've been there, beating Graves County (so it's not even a Mayfield thing). I think it's a stadium whose time has passed.

I really love Hazard's home field. It's literally up on a mountain. The frogs are quite loud and when the fog/mist starts to descend watch out. Really enjoyed Breathitt County also. It reminds me of the field in Ironton Ohio.

I've gotta agree on the #1 choice. To anyone who hasn't been to Putnam its worth making a trip if you can make it for one of the "big" games. With equal seating for home and away teams the atmosphere is amazing when its a packed house. I will say that if you truly want to experience that atmosphere it needs to be a game featuring a local rival. Ironton, Raceland, and Russell games are generally a packed house, Johnson Central is usually pretty full too and typically has seeding implications.

 

I do miss the old concrete structure, but they did stick with concrete walkways and the new enclosed aluminum stands still have a stadium feel as opposed to standard aluminum bleachers. The one benefit of the aluminum outside of the cost difference, is that it adds another dimension of sound to the stadium.

Trinity's Marshall Stadium is better than #2 or #3 , and I'd hesitate to rank it in the top five. It really seems like those two were chosen only because of who plays there, not the stadium itself.

Based on the criteria, I like David Cecil stadium on the list.

 

Cramped seating, yes. Tight sidelines, yes. Antiquated in most regards, including the hoisted trailer used for the press-box, yes. Terrible parking, yes. However, the pre-game atmosphere oozes out the driveway and permeates the entire city on Friday nights.

Obviously it is a matter of opinion, but to me it was big hulking metal bleachers and a long walk due to lack of parking.

Lack of parking? It's in an old Louisville neighborhood. That's like saying that you can't stand Wrigley!

Here's my take on Trinity:

- probably the "nicest" stadium in the State. Huge, modern , everything you would expect for the flagship program from the Bluegrass State

- The Trinity student section is fantastic... nice tailgate scene

 

- Just didn't feel the personality to be honest. Trinity and Harlan County are probably interchangeable..both are the best of the best when it comes to modern amenities...but when comparing the two I like Harlan County because the setting is more intimate and the team intro is unmatched in the State.

 

- Any program wold count their lucky stars to have Trinity's stadium..but based off the criteria to me personally it is just outside the list.
