Not sure how God can forgive a sin if you keep committing the sin and live the lifestyle thats the sin.

If God doesn't forgive a sin that we commit over and over again, I'd venture pretty much all of us are doomed to spend eternity in hell.

Well, then they'll be joined in Hell by the majority of the people of this earth. You know, like all the people having sex out of wedlock and cheating on their spouses.

I'd take the howling of the Christian right a lot more seriously in their protestations over homosexuality if the Christian right were a lot less single-minded about their approach to homosexuality. Especially since, comparatively, nary a word is ever said about spousal infidelity and sex out of wedlock.

Its all a sin. And yes, there are going to be plenty of people in Hell.

That is a good point though about the adultery and out of wedlock sex.

If you are truly saved you wont keep committing the same sin over and over.

Your right, pretty much most of the people are doomed to Hell.

Ref you ask a very valid point , and you have already explained your stance. It's very valid and one I've spent years thinking about .. at what point does " over and over again " really mean ? it is gossiping once a year never ceasing ? is it visiting a porn website daily ? At what point does God decide to stop forgiving a sin that wont go away ? My heart ( note that my heart not my brain ) tells me God will know if a person truly wishes he/she wasn't born with a same sex attraction and who actually chooses to be gay just to be different or makes the choice with no respect to God and His word .

But if every person who cant shake a particular sin is doomed to hell then heaven isn't going to be nearly as full as one would think . The Bible can seem like its EASY to enter to gain heaven and the Bible can seem like it's impossible for man to enter heaven.

Not to step on your toes but are you ( ref ) telling me there isn't any repeating sin in your life today ? Are you planning on going to heaven ?

Can we get back to the thread topic...Mike Huckabee.

Dr. Carson's thoughts on homosexuality can be discussed on the thread on his candidacy.

A few other great topics that could probably use their own thread as well.

I don't think heaven is going to face a population crisis.

I do sin daily and I'm not worthy or deserve what God has given me.

I have eliminated some sins that I did on a daily basis. And some are a struggle to not do. The devil is very strong and convincing.

So why is it that those who spare no vitriol for homosexuality are so silent about other sins? Why just this one?

Let's go ahead and remove abortion from this discussion for a moment, because I recognize that's the easy No. 1 for Christians' ire.

But homosexuality seems to be a strong No. 2 for the Christian morality police. Why is that so much more grave a sin than cheating on your wife?

I get what you mean by " IF you are truly saved" and there are lots of church goers who prob are not saved . But IMO being saved doesn't guarantee you can ever overcome all sin .

I've met Protestants — and let's be honest, the "saved" thing is definitely a Evangelical thing — who seem to believe that because they've been "saved," they can do whatever they want. What is it about the concept of "being saved" that leads Evangelicals to think this way?

I can't speak for everyone but I'm going to venture to say that the reason homosexuality is viewed worse is because it's very disgusting and nasty to any man who don't feel that way. I remember the first time I saw two guys kiss and I about threw up, I still find it nasty watching two guys kiss. So I'm guessing it's viewed as immoral since it's not natural. And Sodom and Gomorrah

I respect the hell out of your for admitting that in a public forum. Most people who feel that way — myself among them to a degree — will dance around that part of it.

To add on to my post, there is a part of me who has always had that aversion to it because it's not me (and it was a stronger aversion when I was younger), and I don't understand it. But as I've aged I realized it's not about me.
