Whatever helps you sleep at night chief... Pitino would choose to be 0-100 vs Cal if it meant making the tournament and competing for championships every season. To think otherwise is irrational at best. The same can be said for Cal...

 

I sleep just fine. Theoretically I guess all coaches in the tournament are competing for a championship though. I would imagine if these two coaches have an ego as you say, head to head regular season losses, head to head tournament losses, and overal championship and final four appearences would play in to them wanting to win, due to their ego as you say.

UL is no doubt the best team that U.K. will play this season. These two just may meet up again in the Final 4 or National Championship game.

I believe that U.K.'s depth will work on Harrell, the Cats can run people in / out and U.L. has little depth underneath. U.K.'s depth will imo eventually take it's toll on U.L.. I do think that this one will be a closer game than a lot of people think. Rivalry games anything can happen. Two excellent teams, two great coaches that have been going at each other since the 90's between Cal / Rick with UMass - U.K and Cal's days at Memphis as well I believe. Regardless what they say abut the other (and/or deny) there is dislike of each other.

U.K. has t do a better job on the defensive boards. Should the Cats come out raining the 3's along with their inside game and keep U.L. off the glass .....game over.

Bottom line is that it's Kentucky / Louisville ....... "Good Ol' Clean, Old Fashion Hate" ....both are extremely talented, U.K. has more (number of) talented players than U.L. and that is eventually what will decide it. ....jmo

Record is 5-1 over last four seasons. I would say where it matters is maybe recruiting. If memory serves Cal nabbed Marquis Teague n Trey Lyles away when they looked solid for UL. But I might be misremembering.

Some over at RR are concerned over the assigned officials to the game. Apparently Cal has lost the last four UK games he has officiated. And another ref seems to have a quick whistle with the T when Cal as much as looks at him, having called 3 or 4 on him and tossing him once.

 

Karl Hess and Roger Ayres are two of my least favorite officials. The assignment to this game by these two jokers is not good for UK.

I've had a bad feeling about this one for weeks. It seems like when one team is thought to have no chance they surprise the other one. If UL hits at least 12 3's and forces 15 turnovers they win by 3. If not, UK by 5.

Considering that they haven't made that many in a game all season, I think it would be unlikely to expect them to do that today against the best defensive team they will have faced all year at this point.
