January 29, 201412 yr Hickey would have gone to either UofL or KY if they would have offered. He would have been fine being a backup point for a couple of years. Louisville did show some interest but it never came about. I think both now wish they would have offered him even though Louisville is good at the PG position for years to come. Now to me knowing him for a long time I've said this many times.. He would have been a great DB in the SEC and would have a had a better chance making the NFL than the NBA but the kids just loves basketball.
January 29, 201412 yr I really think we are getting close to getting the all Freshman starting line-up. I saw on Twitter that Cal said neither Dakari nor Poythress will be starting anytime soon.
January 29, 201412 yr I really think we are getting close to getting the all Freshman starting line-up. I thought the same thing last night, with Dakari getting the start over WCS. Do you ever consider a line up like this: Andrew, Young, Poythress, Randle, Dakari? I'm not sure I want to move Poythress into the starting lineup again because he seems to thrive in his role coming off the bench, but just a thought.
January 29, 201412 yr I really think we are getting close to getting the all Freshman starting line-up. After last nights fiasco, the freshman are not the answer. Actually I'd sit both Harrisons against MO to start the game.
January 29, 201412 yr I get what you're saying but I don't really think it happens that often unless there is a coaching change or a major problem with a player. Coaches don't want to be known for pulling a kid's scholarship just because he wasn't as talented as the new kid on the block. Happens a ton and I can give you several examples from area schools without even breaking a sweat. Virtually every transfer about you hear is a shove. Coaches are a lot more concerned with being known as employed and winning than they are worried about blow-back. Scholarships are one-year renewable for a reason. Just like nearly every injury that sidelines a kid the first 3-5 games of each season isn't an injury. Just the way it is.
January 29, 201412 yr If you remember when the Harrisons signed one of them said they would be at UK the next four years. Maybe they knew more about their game than the experts did.
January 29, 201412 yr After last nights fiasco, the freshman are not the answer. Actually I'd sit both Harrisons against MO to start the game. Idk about sitting the Harrisons, especially because before last night Andrew looked like he was starting to handle things better, I would definitely sit WCS though. Unfortunately, just like his play against other good big men, I think he would handle it weakly and we could lose him. I love Dakari and think he is going to be great, but he isn't there yet physically to do it. We need WCS to be the defensive presence he is known to be in order to make a run. Cal knows this, which is why he keeps starting (same with Andrew for that matter, we aren't going on a deep run behind Polson and Hawkins).
January 29, 201412 yr And that is a career game for Hickey so that in itself highlights a big flaw of his. That's not true. He's had some great games at LSU besides defeating his home state last night.
January 29, 201412 yr You switch Hickey and Teague two years ago and UK doesn't win the title. By the end of the season Teague was one of the five best PGs in the country. I do not think anyone is denying that Hickey can play. That was obvious in high school. But everyone keeps acting like he was begging UK to join their team. I assumed their was a mutual understanding that he would most likely be a reserve through his career at UK and neither party wanted any part of it. Seems to me both got the best of both worlds. Hickey for his career is about a 9-10 ppg player, decent with assists, great at stealing the ball, not a good shooter, questionable decision maker, and poor FT shooter. His numbers would be cut in half at UK and his talents wouldn't be showcased. Seeing as how he averages 1 turnover a game I have to disagree with the decision making part. The rest is spot on though. IMO he wouldn't be any worse than Andrew Harrison, Ryan Harrow or Teague. I still feel like that UK team won the title depsite Teague but I do acknowledge that Teague played much better in February and March than the rest of the season. IMO I think Hickey could have done the same.

And you are kidding yourself if you believe he would have been the equal to Teague his Freshman season. Harrow, sure, but the intent all along was for Teague to return. Don't be jaded by how Teague started the season, he was friggin good the last third of the season which is when you want him to be.
January 29, 201412 yr That's not true. He's had some great games at LSU besides defeating his home state last night. From a controlling the game standpoint, distributing, making shots, etc. that is about high as Hickey will hit. That is not an average game for him. He may go out Saturday and drop five points on 2-12 from the field and 1-4 from the FT line.

January 29, 201412 yr If you think Anthony Davis is RIGHT NOW a Top 3 (again' date=' :lol2:) player in the NBA, you are clearly the one who doesn't follow basketball. That's one of most ridiculous posts you've ever made.[/quote'] Outside of Lebron and KD, I would easily take Davis over anyone to start a franchise. Had he not been injured for a bit he would be getting a lot more PR than he's just now getting. We shall see soon enough and I've heard several pro analyst say after Lebron, Davis will be the be new face.
January 29, 201412 yr But, yes. I wish he were on UK's team. But like Chris Lofton, let's not pretend he was an elite level prodigy that UK (and a bundle of others) missed.
