Yeah because these kids are guaranteed their scholarships every year.

Yeah, because it's common practice for schools to take away scholarships from kids from one year to the next...

Let's look at one game's stat line and make a decision based on that. I really thought you knew more about basketball than that PP. :lol2:

Just saying...I don't want to hear who is better than who and then when they match up the "worst one" has a better game and plays a part in the team's victory. If Harrison is better than Hickey then where was he last night? You all used to say the same thing about Teague and he and Hickey equalled each other on the court when they matched up.

This is where people get confused about UK fans. You all cry about how the Harrison twins are overrated, no good, body language, dumb decisions, need another year of college(oh the horror) and then as soon as someone mentions someone that UK fans seem to yearn for(veteran leadership on a team full of dumb freshmen that knows what it means to be a Wildcat and has the athleticism to compete in the SEC) you all say naw...the dumb freshman is better. You can't have it both ways.

I'm confused how a kid like Hickey who has led an SEC team at the point since his freshman year isn't good enough to run the point for UK.

Yes. It happens quite a bit. Last I saw scholarships are renewed yearly and wasn't there a huge question this year before the season as to whether Polson and Hood would remain on scholarship? Could have sworn they almost lost their scholly's this year.

Was he even offered a bench spot?

I have no idea???

I have no idea???

Me either. I know I'd take Hickey before any of the current homegrown Ky kids on the roster and I love all of them equally.

I agree, I'd take him over Hood and Polson but I don't really see how he can give them anything more than Hawkins does.

There's plenty of PGs I'd take over Harrison this season. An average one (and don't kid yourself, Hickey is VERY average) like Hickey isn't one of them.

Marcus Smart

Tim Frazier

DeAndre Kane

Bryce Cotton

Aaron Craft (I just puked in my mouth)

Shabazz Napier

Tyler Ennis

The VanVleet kid from Wichita State

Keith Appling

I'd probably take them all over the Andrew Harrison we've seen thus far.

The way I see it, if Hickey was on this UK team, they'd have no better record than they do right now, and if he were there in place of Harrison (the PG one), it may be worse.

Hood was questioned because he graduated last year. He's in grad school.

I'd take a junior Hickey over a freshman Hawkins, but if I can have one for four years I'll take Hawkins.

You switch Hickey and Teague two years ago and UK doesn't win the title. By the end of the season Teague was one of the five best PGs in the country.

I do not think anyone is denying that Hickey can play. That was obvious in high school. But everyone keeps acting like he was begging UK to join their team. I assumed their was a mutual understanding that he would most likely be a reserve through his career at UK and neither party wanted any part of it. Seems to me both got the best of both worlds. Hickey for his career is about a 9-10 ppg player, decent with assists, great at stealing the ball, not a good shooter, questionable decision maker, and poor FT shooter. His numbers would be cut in half at UK and his talents wouldn't be showcased.

11 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers.

8 points, 1 assist, 1 turnover.

Which stat line is Harrison's?

And that is a career game for Hickey so that in itself highlights a big flaw of his.

Hickey was good enough to start and play somewhere else (LSU for example) that he wasn't going to come to UK to ride the bench when he could play at another major school and get playing time a lot earlier. Also, Polson has an agreement with Cal that if need be he'd be a walk on, but as long as one is available he'd always have a scholarship.

Yeah I don't consider Polson a scholarship player even though he has one. He plays more so out of default.

I really think we are getting close to getting the all Freshman starting line-up.

I get what you're saying but I don't really think it happens that often unless there is a coaching change or a major problem with a player. Coaches don't want to be known for pulling a kid's scholarship just because he wasn't as talented as the new kid on the block.
