January 4, 201412 yr Author Did anybody say they didn't want him? No just a lot of people reporting burned bridges.
January 4, 201412 yr Let's be honest he could come back to UL with open arms. He called the entire fan base out a few years ago and nobody said a word. UL needs Charlie, more than Charlie needs UL. You seem to have a different memory of that event than I do, but in the end we're UofL fans. What were we going to do, not go to games? Of course not, that's silliness. We said "Thank you for your thoughts, we disagree and don't particularly care what you think on this subject. See you Saturday."
January 4, 201412 yr According to Thamel the terms are set at 5 years, $25 million. The major holdup is the $4.3 million buyout. Agreement not set to be finalized this morning. Franklin is the backup plan. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140104/texas-longhorns-charlie-strong-negotiations-louisville/
January 4, 201412 yr No just a lot of people reporting burned bridges. The only bridges that matter are between him and the people at the university. The fans care about winning. Same truth everywhere. Anything else you get is just a layer of icing on the wins cake.

January 4, 201412 yr ^ Apparently the way this buyout works is that the IRS treats it as income. So Strong is set to make $5 million but would be on the hook for taxes on $9.7 million. Wonder if that's part of the holdup here?
January 4, 201412 yr I'm traveling today so I haven't been able to follow this closely but I have to say that I'm now putting College Coaches in the same catagory as lawyers, politicians and used car salesmen when it comes to honesty. Sent from my SCH-I405 using Forum Runner
January 4, 201412 yr The problem is not Strong and how he handles these situation s it's more about everyone trying to break the story. I would be willing to bet 95% of these stories are people speculating, but everyone else in social media takes these stories and runs with it. For a deal this big and possibly this life changing, can you blame a guy for taking some Time to make his best decision.

That may be the case, but he's not being straight up to his team or staff behind the scenes.
January 4, 201412 yr For a deal this big and possibly this life changing, can you blame a guy for taking some Time to make his best decision. Not at all... But you don't tell the people at your current university that you are staying, and then drag out this scenario.
January 4, 201412 yr Chuckles is mad at me about senior day............... Tell him I am still mad at him about UCF. Lets call it even and man up and make a decsion. You have Coaches and Players that need to move on with their lives.

He could have already told Texas no, if he was indeed staying at UL. No reason to drag it out because this affects more than just him. It's a huge decision for him but he's handled it very poorly on the UL front.
