Charlie Strong to Texas

Featured Replies

1) Keeping Jurich in the dark was a discourtesy, period. Especially as he has been upfront with saying all he wanted was for Strong and the other school to let him know they were talking.

2) I think not talking about it was the right thing to do with the media.

3) There are maybe two handfuls of college jobs in the country that aren't stepping stone jobs to Texas.

4) I agree.

5) This, however, is horse pocky. For one thing, Louisville's attendance was the best it had ever been this year, against possibly its worst schedule. Louisville sold out it's tickets to the Belk Bowl two years ago and had great support in their last two bowls as well. I don't know where you got the talking point about Kentucky, but percentage-wise Louisville kills them in attendance. In fact, Louisville comes pretty close to matching Kentucky in raw numbers in a smaller stadium with a much smaller fan base, and if you subtracted the visiting fans I'm absolutely sure that number gets even closer.

1) I disagree, but I stated my reasons before so I won't rehash.

3) I agree

5) We SOLD the tickets, but how many games were actually occupied to capacity. And I agree on the Senior Day rant he had. It was SENIOR day. Those guys had been there all through the last 4 years, and we should have been able to show our appreciation by being in our seats. And honestly...it's been a long running problem that those who do actually occupany seats wander in when they want, and the stadium is rarely, if ever, at capacity when kick off occurs. We're lackluster, and that's the truth. It's not just the schedule. It's our apathy.

Pat Forde article on why Strong is the wrong guy for Texas.

Y! SPORTS

"When presented with national media opportunities to enhance the Cardinals’ profile, he routinely rejected them. Getting him to make promotional appearances that could enhance donor relations was an exercise in frustration. He left a lot of administrators and support personnel at Louisville exasperated at his unwillingness to do anything to sell the program outside the cocoon of the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex."

So does this mean Charlie was just using UL and is saying UL has no chance at title or tradition, or support and passion.

said Strong in the official release. "Texas is one of those places that is always on your radar and a program anyone would dream of being a part of because you have a chance to compete on a national level every year. It's special because it has such great history, pride, tradition and passion for football.

I wasn't when poor old Pitino and his LOUISVILLE cards lost at rupp this year, or when our poor old girls team beat the NCAA runners up from ul this year.

Two events out of hundreds throughout the year. You're not hard to please. :lol2:

I'm not. I will take a ul loss in basketball to uk any day.

Took longer than expected but this, somehow, turned into a UK vs. UL thread. Crazy to see how many UK fans are obsessed with UL.
