Charlie Strong to Texas

Featured Replies

You know, for two years now, I've been one of the people that said I'd take Petrino back; now that the moment's here, I think I'm backing off. I don't think he'll ever coach at Louisville again.

If I had to put someone at the top of my list right now, I'm in the corner for Clemson OC Chad Morris.

I blame the NFL. I think they pressured Texas to hire Strong, and are paying most of his salary, so he can be successful at a big time school like Texas, and then get hired by the Cowboys in a couple years.

Jason Higdon: "Charlie Strong has informed his staff that a decision has not been reached."

Are you kidding me?

And people wonder why some say he's handling this terribly? :ohbrother:

If the Texas offer is really $5mil, UofL should at least match it IMO. After that, let him go.

Isn't this his first statement? All the rest is speculation isn't it?

Yes. This is the first we've heard from him.

Coaches leave; it's what happens. Move on, make sure the next guy is someone with the same ability to succeed.

He told people/players as late as yesterday he was staying at UofL... Either be honest about looking at the offer, or don't say anything at all.

Yeah. This is what we mean by "handling it poorly". Dude needs an agent or at least a life coach to get him through these things.

I never saw where he said that. My bad. All I saw was that he just made his first statement.

Bunch of stuff on Twitter about sources saying Strong was "disappointed by empty seats at announced sellouts" and "the small crowd at the start of senior day". Again what I mean by handling it poorly. Make a decision, do it quickly, based on professional reasons. This feels like laying it at the feet of the fans so he can feel better about things. Excrement. It was the biggest senior day crowd at UofL... ever. Furthermore, this town is full of partiers and drunks and it takes a lot to get them out of the parking lot. I'm disappointed with them every game too.

I hate that this keeps stretching on...

I agree, UL will be able to hire a good coach without resorting to Petrino.

So if he does come back does fans perception of him change? Is it just about wins or what?

^ If he comes back, great. His players seem to like him and in the end, I couldn't care less about much else. He's a proven winner at UofL who has a great relationship with players and recruits. I still hope he stays.
