Patrick Towles

It's a real blessing to have a good back-up QB. Most good back-ups want to play so they transfer.....and I can't blame them. I imagine Pat T. could do quite well in another system. What other schools were recruiting him when he was at Highlands?

Arkansas, Louisville, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt etc..

In all reality, it might be better in the long-run to lose the QB spot at the beginning of the season. Kentucky is in serious trouble and being the starting QB for the first couple weeks might not be as glamorous as it sounds.

Whitlow also had a 50 yard scramble for a touchdown also.

"50 yard scramble" dont put too much into practice rushing stats for QB's. Defenses can't touch em.

This is per Alan Cutler (Lex 18 News)

"I have no inside information about who is going to be the starting quarterback. But, after the spring game, a few people who get to watch practice told me that they thought Reese Phillips was the best quarterback, and I've heard that more than once during summer camp. Again, I have no idea what is going to happen. And, I'm not making any prediction. I also don't believe QB whoever Stoops picks is UK's biggest ?? or problem."

I bet Phillips uses a red shirt.

I doubt all 4 QB's make it through right now. One has to redshirt IMO.

I agree with the premise of your post, but I guess my question about that is, if he can't win the starting job at Kentucky, what makes anyone think he can at another school?

I personally don't think this offense is suited for Towles... If he wants to play I think he needs to transfer. JMO

Why does it not fit Towles?

Good point........Maybe go to FCS or DII. Didn't Dusty Bonner do this?

If I'm not mistaken, he has a pretty slow/long throwing motion, which is a detriment in Brown's style.

As you yourself have said, the system apparently does not fit him. There is no doubt about his talent so the assumption is he could start at a school where his talent fits the system.

No doubt about his talent? Maybe for the Highlands people, but those who are objectively looking at it, I'd say there's quite a bit of skepticism about just how talented Mr. Towles is.

I think those who are truly objectively looking at it, and know talent, can see how talented he is. If he wants to transfer, and with his love for UK I'm not sure he's interested, he'll have plenty of interest from those who are both objective and know college QB talent.

If you haven't seen Barker throw, you should, he has an amazing release. UK many options in the future.

I'm not a Highlands guy and there is no doubt he is talented. Just because he isn't the clear cut starter in his sophomore season with a new coach and a new system doesn't mean he isn't talented.
