Cousins, Bledsoe? REally.....development doesn't happen in 4 months...it takes a year or two. Come on now.

Are you saying development doesn't occur during the season?

He may be grasping at straws, trying to find anything that might motivate them to play better, or at least smarter.

Sometimes when coddling doesn't work, kicking does.

Yea I am pretty sure Tubby said that about Chris Lofton how did that work out?

A. That was during Tubby's era, not Cal's. Most would argue that overall, Cal recruits better talent than Tubby did.

2. How many times did UT beat UK during Lofton's stay at UT? Once? I honestly can't remember.

D. While I'm sometimes guilty of being a Lofton apologist (best pure shooter I've ever seen and just a great guy), Tubby had already recruited his guards for that season.

Stinks about Lofton, but UK went with the right guys......

...unless you're talking about in person, JJ was way, way better than Chris....no offense.

11/13/12 - Noel - 16 pts, 8 reb, 3 blocks

01/10/13 - Noel - 13, 7, 3

02/12/13 - Noel - 8,6,3 before he gets hurt....

I don't believe that John Calipari has had much to do with "development" in Nerlens....

I disagree. It would have been a joke to compare Nerlens and Davis in November or December but at least Nerlens is now somewhat comparable on the defensive end. Recently he had added a nice little hook shot too. Someone helped him develop. Early in the year there wasn't much of a drop off between him and WCS. Now it's huge.

Maybe - I never met him or watched him in person. I probably saw 40 or 50 of Chris' games.

Including one where he was INEXPLICABLY not fouled as time was winding down in the 2004 SS quarters. No one has yet given me an explanation.

Back to the Cats. This was as miserable performance as I've seen in a month of Sundays. Polson played well but when a role player is the best guy you have on the floor you're in major trouble.

I'm with several others here. I didn't realize the impact of losing Noel would have on this team.

Hold everything.... I think Goodwin just "charged" again.

Very sad effort.

If Coach Cal's philosophy was to build a team and not make it the "University of the One and Dones", UK would be solid every year. Teams need experienced leadership and experience and without recruiting some players that are going to stick around, this is what you get with the one and done system. Enjoy the good years and suffer through the bad. Maybe next year will be special with all the future NBA players coming.

Everyone can't wait until next year but nothing is guaranteed. These players were 5 star as well. Some get it and some don't. Let's hope next years class gets it!!

What does this have to do with Cal?

Shows has worked 3 UK games this year, all UK losses, to A & M, Alabama and today to Tennessee. He obviously does not like Cal, but when you play like a bad team, you generally get bad calls.

I think they have been T's called on either Cal or the bench in each of those games.

Nerlens footwork in the low post is much better IMO based on where he started at the beginning of the season and he is rebounding better too. He wasn't blocking shots as well early in the year and improved upon that as the year progressed too (although he was already touted as a shot blocker). His defensive positioning also got better throughout the year. Nerlens has improved as a player but still has a ways to go offensively.

Nerlens has improved a ton since the start of the season. I don't really see that as debatable.

Again it is very simple. This wasn't an overly talented recruiting class, and figuring out who the impact guys were was a chore for every staff out there. Even at the very top there wasn't much. Mix in the title last year and a few guys seeing their stock skyrocket and you have the situation at hand. Even then Noel was probably going to be enough to get them in the tournament. Without him this simply isn't a good team in pretty much any area of the game. They struggle to score, defend, rebound and maintain intensity for extended stretches. Not a good recipe...

Kentucky has been playing basketball for 110 years. With all of the great players, with Coach Rupp, Coach Hall, Coach Pitino, Coach Cal et al. Kentucky has won 8 titles. The CATS have failed to win the NCAA championship 102 of 110 seasons.

Coach Cal led the CATS to the Elite 8 his first year, Final 4 his second year and won a title his third year.

Nobody wins every year. It is time to be greatful for a great 3 year run. Reload and keep track of who needs a butt stomping when the cavalry arrives next fall.
