Often times, kids come to college, very skilled at the one on one game....AAU, pick up, etc.....they are taught the true team method....or in this case, maybe not.

Your implication that Cal can't teach team work is a joke. How many teams has he taken to the final four? You don't do that if you don't teach teamwork. The fact is this recruiting class was weak and he lost his top 6 players to the NBA. Nothing more nothing less.

Some players don't have that feel for passing and I think it can be developed but these guys need to become students of the game and start understanding what they are and aren't good at and also what they can and cannot get away with in the college game. This collection of cats especially Archie, Alex, & Ryan just seem to me like very talented athletes who have yet to grasp how to actually play the game of basketball. Cal's offense, while not the dribble drive that he implemented at Memphis does have some read & react principles that require players with some type of basketball acumen. Archie looks selfish at times when I think really the problem is he never had to learn the game as he could get to the basket and finish over everyone at will probably his whole life and never developed the student of the game aspect like a less athletic player (I.e. Kyle Wiltjer) had to.
February 18, 201313 yr Cal not being able to teach teamwork is a JOKE. That's is the method of his madness - to "buy in". Obviously this team hasn't yet. 1. Call me a homer, blue blinder, what have you, but I think Cal reserves the right to call his players out publicly if he so wishes. Because the fact of the matter is, is that this team plays soft, they do not hustle, and lack a killer instinct. Polson, God love him, but the kid got owned by the UT guards. He hustles, but hustle only takes you so far. If we are relying on him then there is not a shot in hell this team sniffs the tourney. You ask who else do we have? Well, Harrow, if he can figure it out, but this late in the season seems unlikely. 2. This team plays selfish, and for the name on the back of the jersey as opposed to teh front. Some would say that is a drawback of recruiting the one and dones, but the teams in the past (of Calipari) have not played that way i.e. High assist rates, even scoring, etc. I really cant put my finger on what it is with this team. I was hoping by this time guys like Wiltjer, Mays, and Harrow would be taking charge of this team. Apparently none of them carry the leadership qualities that are imperative on a team of this sort. 3. Lastly, this team needs the players we expected to show up, actually show up! Where has Poythress been since the Duke game? Why isn't he dominating the boards like an absolute beast? Archie, again love the kid to death and I really think he's trying to figure it out but he is nowhere close to what people thought he would do, including the "experts". Can't strike gold with every class, these kids just need to actually play with some fire, and act like they give a crap.
February 18, 201313 yr Thank the good lord I had to work this weekend and missed this one. Apologies to UKMF, apparently me saying this team did have a chance against UT was silly. It will be a brutal team to watch the rest of the season. BBN for life.

February 18, 201313 yr Regarding Cal, if you say he can't coach, you are simply a hater or just don't know the game very well. When you take into account that he essentially starts a brand new team EVERY year, it is incredibly remarkable how well he gets them to play together.

Come on RP you're better than that. Brandon knight team, and last year. That's 2. And technically speaking he took other schools to the final four team as well but they were vacated. They still made it though.
