November 1, 201213 yr Lets see a show of hands from BGP'ers who did not drink a beer when they were in high school. That's what I thought! I didn't while in high school. Now college was another story...
November 1, 201213 yr It sounds to me as if the Coach and administration have taken swift and correct action regarding this matter. Good job by them they are to be commended. Good luck this week Tigers.
November 1, 201213 yr My first reaction is don't post names, but let's treat all 16-18 yr. olds equal on BG Preps and many names in the past have been posted that made mistakes. Why special treatment for these kids and not for others. (Remember Dixie last year as one example!) or I have a better idea just get info to Tricia Macke and she'll be happy to tell the names on the news as long as it's not a Highhlands kid. I hope you're not implying that ANY Fox affiliate would deliver biased news.....!

Again, on Dixie/Pike, he was 18 so he was fair game. Additionally, if other media reports names then it is fair game here. On naming the kids, we are not trying to give anyone special treatment, we are trying to find some level of consistency. I spent some time on the phone last night with one of my staff members trying to come to a consensus on how to handle this and we both agreed that no matter what direction we take with it we are going to be accused either of not being consistent or sharing too much information about the incident. So to summarize: 1. If any of the kids suspended or kicked off the team are 18, they are fair game, list them. 2. Anyone who was kicked off the Beechwood team for violation of team rules is fair game, list them. 3. If someone is just suspended for this week we think that is a very slippery slope. Maybe they were suspended for grades, maybe this incident, maybe something else. What we don't want to do is list them in this thread as suspended for drinking. 4. Here is where it gets tricky. Come Friday night several Beechwood players are going to be in street cloths/not playing and it is fair to point out/list the players that are not playing for Beechwood because that is a fact that is open to the public. So to be clear, come Friday night we can state facts and on Friday night there will be exactly one fact, someone was either in uniform or they weren't in uniform for Beechwood.
November 1, 201213 yr I would hate for the kids that are in street clothes because of injury to be lumped in with the ones who are suspended. We cannot jump to conclusions. Names are starting to surface. Some are freshman. The behavioral bar is usually even higher for open enrollment students. I wonder how many second chances they get?
November 1, 201213 yr I missed them talking on 700wlw at 1206 but this article is posted there. Not good info for the host of the party. article can be found here: Beechwood Football Players Suspended | Bill Cunningham - Cincinnati Reds - 700WLW - THE BIG ONE (Fort Mitchell) Beechwood School Administrators say two sets of parents told them they witnessed students drinking outside the home of Ludlow City Administrator Brian Richmond when they went to drop off their teens at a party there. They then took their kids home and alerted administrators. Eighteen Beechwood High School football players confessed to attending the party where underage drinking occured and that's a violation of team rules. They told administrators cases of Keystone Light were available for the taking outside the home. Fifteen players were suspended for their first violation and three were kicked off the team after having multiple violations. Fort Mitchell police say no witnesses have reported the incident to the police and until that happens an investigation won't be started. November 1, 201213 yr Isn't Tricia Macke a NewCath grad? Yes she is but her kids have been brainwashed by the blue kool aid and are Highlands folk now.
November 1, 201213 yr Looks like the freshmen will get their chance sooner than anyone thought. It's unfortunate but a life lesson is going to be learned. Stringer and Combs should have been playing varsity anyway IMO so hopefully they will get to showcase what they can do early. Seize the opportunity fellas.

It is my understanding that players "Suspended" for Team Rule violations are not permitted on the sidelines. I'm not even sure they are allowed to attend the game.
November 1, 201213 yr My heart says we have all been there before so we should be more understanding, but my head says these "kids" need to be taught a lesson. Agree. I've told my 16 year old daughter, "the choice is up to you, but if you make the wrong one my God have mercy on your soul".
November 1, 201213 yr Speculating on any kids and the reason they aren't playing is risky and IMO wrong. There is too high a risk of naming an innocent person if you just go by players not in uniform and it isn't worth it. We have juvenile court and separate rules for juveniles for a reason.

There is too high a risk of naming an innocent person if you just go by players not in uniform and it isn't worth it. We have juvenile court and separate rules for juveniles for a reason. That is why I said there will be only one fact, either in uniform or not, and everyone is free to report who is in uniform and who is not in uniform.
November 1, 201213 yr Hopefully some transfers go back to the school they should be going to because of this. I guess the grass is not always greener?
