November 1, 201213 yr Looks like the freshmen will get their chance sooner than anyone thought. Friday night will be "Lockem" night for the Beechwood freshman! I know it will be the same in Ft Thomas....
November 1, 201213 yr VOR and Beechwoodfan, thanks to both of you for being very positive with this thread as both of you have had kids growing up in the Beechwood Schools. Again I trust that Coach Rash and Mr. Hutton will and have handled this situation. For the one's who want to knock Beechwood due to success it is just like they due with all successful programs as Highlands and other's they have to put them down. Again like I said earlier it has happened all over the area not just Beechwood. Good luck to Beechwood this week and going forward this too will go away in time. JD Agreed! I have forwarded the link to my teens, and we are using this is a teaching moment. Take the article and replace Beechwood with any other HS name in NKY, and that's the reality. "Large gathering of teens at someone's home with a bonfire.....and just like that, everything that you have worked so hard for can be taken away, and mom and dad can't do anything about it....."

All it takes is one kid showing up with alcohol and everybody there is guilty by association. How could the adults involved decide that supervision was not neccessary?
November 1, 201213 yr My guess is there are many parents graspkng onto the "my child was simply guilty by association" line. Logic says most would be incorrect.
November 1, 201213 yr I wonder how many kids that got kicked off the team were underclassman? If any. Will they be aloud back on Beechwood's football team next year? If not, will we see a few of them cross the river into Campbell County to play football
November 1, 201213 yr Lets see a show of hands from BGP'ers who did not drink a beer when they were in high school. That's what I thought! I will raise my hand. Never had a drink of alcohol in my life. I really don't like it when people assume that everyone drinks alcohol. As for the thread, I think the punishments, if done as has been said, are appropriate. Where in my post did I say that everyone drinks alcohol? I drank like a fish in high school, then I turned 21 and quit. I haven't had a drink in over 30 years.
November 1, 201213 yr "This is a teaching moment and we've been forged by fire," said Rash. "We will play 'Beechmont football' this Friday and make our community proud as they've always been." Good job Channel 9! hahaha, I sure hope Beechmont football is good football or Beechwood could be in trouble lol.
November 1, 201213 yr Where in my post did I say that everyone drinks alcohol? I drank like a fish in high school, then I turned 21 and quit. I haven't had a drink in over 30 years. I'm the same. I drank in highschool, drank in the military, then one day out of the blue I just stopped. I will have maybe 1 drink a year at a wedding reception or something but just don't drink anymore. I'm 47 now and haven't really drank since I was 24. No big deal and I don't think anything negative toward those that do drink nor those that don't. It's just a personal choice is all.
November 1, 201213 yr So is speeding, but they don't get suspended for that. Do any of the players chew tobacco, if not 18 that is against the law, do they get suspended. It's likely against team rules even if you are 18.
November 1, 201213 yr I didn't start drinking till I got with my daughters mother and had my daughter...
November 1, 201213 yr Lets see a show of hands from BGP'ers who did not drink a beer when they were in high school. That's what I thought! I didn't drink in season. However, some of these kids, if I heard correctly, were suspended for being at a party where alcohol was present. They did not drink. If that is the case, I would have been suspended for my Soph, JR, and Sr. seasons. However, if that is the rule that is in place you have to follow it. I commend Rash for taking this stand.

I think that is highly unlikely but I'm sure that is the case for some of them.

Lets see a show of hands from BGP'ers who did not drink a beer when they were in high school. That's what I thought! I am glad you have given up drinking, but your post did imply that everyone, at least in high school, drank a beer. Obviously some people learn a lesson and stop drinking. I have always tried to learn from other people's mistakes, rather than my own. I hope other kids learn from the mistakes that these kids have made.
November 1, 201213 yr Personally I am sure the kids are suffering enough....IMO its a bad idea to start posting names of young men who are 16-18 years old and made decisions they regret. My first reaction is don't post names, but let's treat all 16-18 yr. olds equal on BG Preps and many names in the past have been posted that made mistakes. Why special treatment for these kids and not for others. (Remember Dixie last year as one example!) or I have a better idea just get info to Tricia Macke and she'll be happy to tell the names on the news as long as it's not a Highhlands kid.
