I have never heard of this scholarship fund. I am a loyal Bird fan but I don't know how one of these things compares to the other. I feel that there are a few folks on here out to defame the character of a very good person. Just be careful what you are posting as a fact because you may have to answer to that in court. Now I know Dale is above all this, but some others may pursue retribution. In PLAIN English, be careful. Tread lightly, but carry a bit stick!

What exactly is "smash mouth" football? I hear this referenced when playoff time comes from the teams from the East vs NKY teams and I just don't get it. Is football anything else but "smash mouth"? Or is NKY football that kind of finesse football stuff. Looks like finesse wins out more often than not if so.

Guess I'm clueless but really is there a connection between these two issues of pulling out of GAME commitment and a DONATION that was or was not promised? 11 pages of thread when the bottom line is Ryle has got to have a REAL reason for not wanting to play the Birds (whether the competition is on a whole other level than where Ryle is or whatever) but I can't see it as something simple as making a donation to a scholarship fund (misunderstanding or not). Bottom line is this, this is a football GAME issue so does anyone have a REAL reason why the Raiders pulled out of the VERBAL commitment.

I was surprised when I heard Ryle decided to drop Highlands. I think Warner was right years ago when he said why he was willing to play Highlands (even twice). I'm not sure what is going on at Ryle and frankly it's none of my business. But I do wish Ryle was stilling playing Highlands. Like the rivalry and it puts the Birds in a bind at this date to try to find another team to play us.

 

For the sake of high school football, particularly N. Ky high school football, I hope there are no problems and if there are, I hope Coach Warner can get them straightened out. Ryle being very good is very good.

There could be a connect, if a team said they were gonna give money to the scholarship and didnt, I can see where schools/coaches would choose not to play said school. (if that is in fact what happenend) Also, perhaps Ryle just doesnt want to play Highlands anymore, do they really need a reason? Most contracts are 2 years and are up at the end of this year, so they dont renew, whats the big deal. I bet those close to 50 or more 2 year contracts from this last period that dont get renewed.

To me the timing is the most puzzling. Every team has to decide what is best for their program and if Coach Warner doesn’t believe playing Highlands is in his best interest that is certainly understandable. However, making this decision at this date not only leaves Highlands scrambling, but it also leaves Ryle scrambling. I would have thought that Ryle had another option that coach Warner wanted to pursue, but based upon the listserv request for a game yesterday, that does not appear to be the case. Why decide to drop Highlands after most schedules have been set?

Guys, if you've read the whole post you'll see that nobody said that what did/did not transpire at the coaches' meeting was the cause of the cancellation. Not one person. Why that was brought up was to show that while everyone was attacking Warner, and rightfully so in my opinion if he changed his mind on such late notice (contract or not), Mueller, supposedly, also has not kept his word to other coaches/administrators. I have no idea if that is true, but nobody has said that that is the reason.
