Ryle cancels series against Highlands!!!

Featured Replies

Then why all of the other rhetoric? How can the game not be in the best interest of his program when his frosh teams have defeated the Birds each of the last 2 years. He put Colerain on his schedule and now drops Highlands? Just does not make sense to me.

The rhetoric comes when Highlands fans question his character for backing out of a contract when their own head coach just kept a promised gate from a scholarship fund. The hypocrasy in Ft. Thomas is stale.

My summary thoughts on this thread as a huge Ryle supporter over the years: Bryson dropped the series - Dale did not. Nothing relating to Tom Potter, Harry Potter or a Plant Potter had anything to do with this cancellation. Coach Warner apparently sees a 2-year break in the series to be best for Ryle and I hate to see the series end. I have no idea if Dale will want to resume the series.

No one questioned Warner's character until you took your shot at Dale for the Potter stuff. People simply questioned why he made the decision this late in the game when just 2 short years ago he said that if you want to be among the elite programs you have to play them. Makes sense considering he scheduled Highlands twice one year and added Colerain to his schedule. Do you know the "Real" reason that this series was terminated? I would really like to know because I have a hard time believing that it had anything to do with the coaches meeting nor for the best interest of their program.

Warner's character was questioned by LN.

Look back again. There were many posters questioning his character, word, or whatever term you would like to use prior to me posting on this thread. As far as a pot shot, I brought up a fact. I understand it is distastefull, but it is a fact that occurred. If you want to know the reason for the series being dropped, you will have to ask Coach Warner. I am sure this game will resume someday, but it won't be played for the next two years.

That is far from the truth, but it seems you are interested in creating your own version of it.

Outlandish! It sounds like you have been hanging around UK fan and have your own version of facts. IMO sale the story to The National Enquirer. Dale and staff are great coaches and motivators and set the example for our kids, no way this occurred and if it did I see a Union tilt on it. I am certain Dale did what was in the best interest of kids, school and community. I would love to take a pot shot at Warner but I would not hide behind a forum to do so! I have made respect for Dale and Weinrich, and I did not grow up in the community.

Ask ANY head coach in NKY. It occurred. I am sorry that it has a bad taste, but it is a fact.

Warner's character was questioned by LN.

Yes it was and I make no apologies for it. If Warner agreed to play Highlands and he then backed out of the commitment at a late date, unless there was some miscommunciation between Dale and Warner, I have a problem with it.

If Dale agreed that the gate from the scrimmage with T was to go to the scholarship fund and he then backed out of the commitment, unless there was some miscommunication between Dale and the scholarship fund administrators, I have a problem with it.

I tell my sons to honor their word; not going to accept anything less from coaches. No hypocrisy from this person from Ft. Thomas.

Wrong, as I suspect your other "facts" are also. Check out when we started riding Warner for breaking his word. However, if your claims against Dale are true LN has already stated that he would have a problem with it. I would also as I suspect other HHS fans would. Right now we have your claims and as proof you offer "ask any coaches". How convenient. Your hypocracy in this matter is unbelievable as you still have not said you have a problem with Warner breaking his word (proven) yet you continue to berate Dale for his allegedly (you were not there) breaking his word.

In the end, I think it is good for both school that they stop playing. I don't like the way it ended. But facts are, over last 8 games they have played. Highlands has won 7 games and Ryle 1. Highlands has scored 319 points and Ryle 124. Thats an average score of 40 to 16. I don't think that helps Highlands or Ryle. Good luck to both teams in the future.

I hate that I am going to have to agree with plain here but I as well have talked to 4 head coaches and was told all 4 times that there was an issue with Highlands and the Potter classic and funds. Seems to be a legit issue or major misunderstanding, as one coach called it.

So which is it? Just curious who has the facts on this debacle!

His word??? Have you ever changed your mind on a decision? Games are changed all the time in the coaching world before contracts are signed. Not giving a gate to a scholarship fund when you had promised to do so is not common. I am glad that there are some posters that have a problem with it, but there are many that obivously see any decision made by Dale to be great and "good for the kids and program." There is no doubt in my mind that he thinks keeping that gate is good for the program. However, his reasoning was that no NKY teams play him out of district so his gates are down. Keeping the money from that gate is not the way to make it up.

So which is it? Just curious who has the facts on this debacle!

I would doubt that anyone that was at that meeting would call it a misunderstanding. I know that both of the head coaches I spoke to on the matter did not.

I agree with this 100%. IF Dale backed out and his reasons were not valid, I don't think ANYONE on here would support that. My feeling is that we aren't getting all of the story! I believe you 100% that he backed out. You don't have to convince me of that. I don't have to ask any coaches at this point. You, along with the other poster, have convinced me. However, I don't know Dale's side of the story as to "why". I find it very hard to believe there weren't some factors that led to that decision that either you know and aren't sharing or just have no clue other than what other coaches told you. Don't you think there are coaches out there that would love to drill the best coach and program in NKY. Don't you think there is a possibility they only heard/translated what THEY heard in the meeting. Even the other poster admitted that one coach mentioned a "huge misunderstanding". Just that alone lends doubt to the context in which you are putting it. You also snuck in (later in the conversation) that Dale made an offer to pull his kids out of eligibility for the scholarship. When you first started this stuff, that wasn't mentioned until we pinned you against the wall about facts. What else to you know that you're not telling us that is in favor of Dale??

No doubt at this point he backed out. Yippie, you convinced us. But no reason or facts behind "why". Dale would never make a decision that had an impact on any kids, without it being well thought out and unselfish. If you can PROVE otherwise, I'll eat the crow (UK#1 shout out), apologize and admit I was wrong.

Maybe Dale the coach promised, but Dale the School Administrator/AD decided they wouldn't :)
