He just walked into the last coaches' meeting in NKY and told the association, after he had promised the gate and promoted the scrimmage between them and Trinity as the Tom Potter classic, that he was keeping the money from the scrimmage because his gate was down due to lack of NKY scheduling. Maybe that is the reason Coach Warner chose to end the game. He might not enjoy being associated with people who take money from a scholarship fund. Who knows? Of course, his claim was that nobody from NKY played him out of district. Now, unlike at the time of the meeting, he will be correct. Ryle has played Highlands six times the last four years on both the varsity and JV levels. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that he is going back on HIS word and keeping money from a scholarship fund.

 

IF Dale promised this past year's gate to the scholarship fund and IF he later reneged on that promise, not only my Dad would have problems with it, I would too.

Ryle did not win district in 2006. They entered as #2 seed behind Boone because of the loss at Boone. 1 district title in 10 years was an accurate statement earlier in the thread.

I posted 49 loses becouse I was counting this Fridays game at Scott County. And by the way, the money for the field came from a Soccer grandparent.

Check the trophy cabinet in Ryle's school. That year the play-offs determined who was a district champion because they played each other in the first two rounds.

Soooooooooooo. with Cooper beginning to tast some success and arguably taking over as a the king of Boone Cty football, will they step up and take Ryle's spot in the schedule? or could it be the "bad boys" of Conner calling Dale. Typically Highlands has seen teams like Beechwood and most recently Ryle take the approach that the only way to get better is to play the best mentality. Both have recently resended and taken a much leaner approach but kudos to both while it lasted, great competition from both with Ryle getting the banquet win in 2010.

Is there anyone else I am missing out there in NKY that might want to play the Birds to prepare themselves for better competition? Anyone? :popcorn:

It is hard to imagine Cooper taking over as a king of Boone County Football. Ryle's jv beat them 40 - 0. Ryle's freshman beat them in two games a combined score of 61 - 12. However, Cooper has done a great job of building a nice football program and Ryle looks forward to opening the 2013 against them again in week 0.

Ryle and Cooper certainly have been on different trajectories the past two seasons and I could see Cooper taking over as tops in Boone County unless Ryle changes their path.

In 2005, Ryle played Fern Creek in the first round of the play-offs and lost a great game. I can check again but I am pretty sure the district championships were determined the seasons of 2006 and 2007 by the play-offs. I believe Ryle even has a banner in the gym stating the 2006 district championship, as well as the 2010 district championship. I would think you would know since you seem to be a big supporter. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now we're getting somewhere. HHS participated in the past and they didn't this year. 3 years ago, Dale gave his word for that year. This year, no one confirmed with HHS. The association comes looking for the money and Dale says he never committed this year...which he didn't. The association, now upset and over committed in funds, blames Dale. Dale being the guy he is, offers to remove his team from consideration lesser the blow. But that's about all he can do.

 

 

And if he did do that the way you describe it, wouldn't we have heard something about it already??? Funny it comes up from a disgruntled Ryle fan after his 6A team is getting drilled for dropping a 4A team off the schedule.

The Raiders beat Boone County in 2005 at Ryle. You may have meant 2006.

Not that it matters, but the KHSAA change the distict title for two seasons. In 2006 and 2007 regular season was for seeding. You played the first two rounds of the playoffs with your district with the winner of the second game winning the district title and going on to the region.

Really? How do you consider Beechwood's schedule"leaner". Simply because it doesn't include highlands? The district schedule includes 2 6a schools, couple 4a schools, one of which is a perennial nky power. Of the two 2a schools, one was defending state champ and the other has a good chance this year.
