This will be very interesting to see how the schedules fill.

 

Does Ryle have a team lined up to fill the vacancy now in their schedule? Are there schools out there still trying to fill holes in next years schedule? Will HHS need to move multiple games around to make the schedule work? Is BG's schedule set for next year?

 

Theoretically, if it was Bowling Green, it would have to be a home game. But then Ryle would have been a home game. That certainly be an interesting schedule. But I don't see it happening.

Why in God's name would HHS, or anyone else, schedule Elder in week nine and follow that with the likes of Colerain, trinity, X, etc.. Nice thought, but quite foolish one week before playoffs. Not going to happen. I like a SK matchup or an Anderson Turpin type team.

 

A few weeks ago some people were implying the birds would fit right in with the GCL. Now's the chance to see by playing more than one during the season. Unfortunately Colerain may not even have a team next year if their levy doesn't pass next week.

No way HHS fits in the GCL. Now, they do play a GCL team once a year. You can't expect a school the size of HHS to compete physically with those teams. Yeah, I used the "size" card. And it's legit. Now I can see them keeping a GCL team or adding another or adding a Anderson, Turpin,.... someone on the DIII level. But DIII teams won't play because there is a better chance they would lose to the Birds. And that would kill their Harbin points.

Well, maybe they can pick up an actual game against TRINITY, instead of just a scrimmage. just sayin.

That's a possibility I'm sure; then again, do you really want your starters to have a bye the last week and then play the first two rounds of the playoffs? If the past holds true (where the starters really haven't played much in the first two rounds), Highlands starters could have almost a full month between having to play an entire game. Which is why I liked Ryle in that slot. Up until last year, a game vs Ryle was usually a tough game that required the starters to play all or most of the game, but wasn't overscheduling. Plus, I just like the bye week earlier in the year to break up the season and allow banged up kids to heal up before finishing the regular season. Hopefully Dale will find a team that can push the Birds in that last game but frankly not be too much after playing Elder the week before.

This whole thing is really a radical change in coarse for Ryle after having both Colerain and Highlands on the schedule this year. Perhaps the realities of the available talent have sunk in. And to be clear, this is not a shot at Ryle, just a given reality of the dilution of talent resulting from two relatively new programs on both of Ryle's borders.

Trust me there is no lack of talent in Union. Their frosh have beaten the HHS frosh 4 out of the last 6yrs..What you do with that talent is another issue..

IMO this is a easy fix. Mike Woolf should be head coach.

That's because Ryle wants to run over you. That works at the Frosh level when you consistently have big linemen coming in to your program. At the varsity level, you need athletes that Ryle does not have. Look and some of Ryle's game threads and you will be that their kids are described as small and slow.

That would not be pretty. No knock on Fairview. Highlands is just on a different level. The Birds need to find another D1-3 Ohio team to fill that date.

I don't think they can, week 11 in KY is the 1st round of the playoffs in OH if I'm not mistaken.

 

Not correct. OH starts playoffs the same week as KY. (i.e. playoffs start this week in KY & OH)
