Ryle cancels series against Highlands!!!

Featured Replies

Disappointed to lose Ryle but they have done a U turn since beating the Birds in 2010. It looked like it was turning into a competitive series at that point. Despite the game this year, SC is one I believe could turn into a good series if it could be worked out.

Then your dad wouldn't respect Dale Mueller very much. He just walked into the last coaches' meeting in NKY and told the association, after he had promised the gate and promoted the scrimmage between them and Trinity as the Tom Potter classic, that he was keeping the money from the scrimmage because his gate was down due to lack of NKY scheduling. Maybe that is the reason Coach Warner chose to end the game. He might not enjoy being associated with people who take money from a scholarship fund. Who knows? Of course, his claim was that nobody from NKY played him out of district. Now, unlike at the time of the meeting, he will be correct. Ryle has played Highlands six times the last four years on both the varsity and JV levels. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that he is going back on HIS word and keeping money from a scholarship fund.

Coach Warner listed 3 reasons for not continuing the series - neither of the 3 had anything to do with your allegation.

"people who take money from a scholarship fund" and "keeping money from a scholarship fund" is very close to calling someone a criminal. I would be alittle more careful about making such statements.

BTW, I think Campbell Co is on next years schedule - so there is still one N Ky non-district school on the schedule.

What do you call someone who promises a gate to a scholarship fund and goes to a meeting and tells the association that he is keeping the money? I don't think I have to worry when I am talking about the truth. I didn't say criminal because he is not keeping the money for his own use, but I don't mind calling him someone who goes back on his word. Prior to the Tom Potter, no one charged for scrimmages. He promoted it as the Tom Potter and promised the money to the association. What exactly do you call not following through?

Your right....Because JOAT would fire the whole coaching staff..

And you would be a real idiot to fire one of the most successful coaches in our area for the last decade? How many schools who have no tuition or out of district ability in their enrollment can say they have had a winning record for the last decade, including two twelve win seasons and an appearance in a state finals. You folks simply don't like him because of his charming personality. However, he has been successful.

Of course not! It's just fun for some people to say things on the Internet, without the need for any of that pesky reality being involved.

Wrong, very wrong.

So what do you think of his decision to go back on his word or even breaking a contract?

There was no contract signed. Dale Mueller is the AD at Highlands, why wasn't there a contract signed? Untill a contract is signed, teams can change their minds and do all the time. However, it is very rare that anyone has tried to keep their Potter money. As a matter of FACT, it has never happened.

So you're ok with Warner's word being worthless?

I went to the T scrimmage and saw nothing nor heard anything of the Tom Pottter. I was not aware that it was ever a part of the Potter thing. I don't think an H vs T football event will ever need any promotion. My guess is that whatever came in at Highlands for the T scrimmage is way more than any two other venues combined, and that includes those that have multiple games. Now it seems that the coaches assoc. has gone and pissed off its cash cow.

If Bryson/Ryle don't want to play H because that is what's best for the program, great. That is exactly what they should do, take care of their program. If its for any other reason, shame. Whatever the reason it is quite a departure from Bryson's public comments from just a few short years ago.

So zero dollars went to the Potter Scholarship fund? That seems hard to believe.

I still find it very amusing that people are critiquing Warner for going back on his word over this game when their head coach has gone back on his word for a scholarship program. The hypocrasy is endless. Warner is doing what he thinks is best for his program. I am sure the game will continue in the future.

He told the association to make it even he won't accept the scholarship for one of his players. Every school gets a scholarship for a player, but his won't. However, that won't make up for the size of that gate to the fund. He dedicated that money to the fund, and now he is going back on that promise.

You continue to avoid the question. Warner's word is worthless. He's proven it. You yourself keep talking about a signed contract. Therefore you admit his word is worthless, yet you are ok with that. Why?

Is Mueller's word worthless? The point is that he has made a decision for his program. Keeping a gate is ridiculous.
