Umm...the other sports don't have 80-90 people to transport! In my experience, the smaller teams have always employed willing adults to transport players.

 

And they do rent vans for the other sports. How would you suggest they transport 80-90 kids? Plus, they have special contract rates with the companies. It's not what you or I would pay to go rent them. And to buy them, I think it would take a couple years of bus trips. They aren't renting them for a week. They are only renting them for a couple hours and mostly local. So what do you think they are paying??? If we bought won, then you'd be mad we spent money on that!!! Plus we'd still have the maintenance, fuel, storage (which is a big issue in Ft. Thomas).

Buy two buses, how do you think it looks like when you pull up with three buses each week at a cost of 3000.00. Put that money into your other programs.

 

So let's say you're right on with your money. That means that HHS spends $18K a year on buses for 6 away games. How much do you think a bus would cost to buy? $200K (heck, I think I'm being conservative) We'd need at least 2 buses. So now we're at $400k. That's 22 years of renting before you come up even. That doesn't even include all the other stuff that people are mentioning that goes along with owning a bus.

I have seen more than you think, my family member is on your staff. I don't dislike Highlands but your Football fans are ate up. You need to spend some of that time and money, and put it into your other sports.

 

The money they spend on charter buses they could buy one a year. You don't see the other sports at Highlands using a charter bus.

 

If you have a family at Highlands then they should know exactly how those busses are paid for. Every single player has to fund raise every summer. They each have to sell promotion cards. Cards are $20 each and each player has to sell 10. Since you are so mathematically challenged, that equates to $200 per player. Mulitply that times 91 players on Varsity/JV = $18,200..Oh, forgot the 60 Frosh players..Add another $12,000.00 for them. This is on top of athletic fee and meal fee. Might want to check your sources before you speak on a subject you obviously know nothing about...

The biggest concern and question is who is toeing the rubber on these wagons.

That liability alone is worth $18k a yr imo.

If they can afford to do so and if it's not costing taxpayers of Ft Thomas any money what is the issue? They could probably rent a big trailer and haul the players as well.
