I have heard that Highlands was able to arrange a home game against Warren Central to fill the spot from Ryle, and that Boyle County has dropped Highlands, leaving HHS with only a 9 game schedule at this point.

At the present time, Highlands is scheduled to play as many teams from WKY (3) as they are against NKY teams (I am not counting Harrison County as NKY, BTW).

 

Campbell County is the only team from NKY on the schedule for next year that is not required to play HHS. I wonder when the time will come when no NKY teams are on the schedule "voluntarily."

In my opinion, any 6A N. Ky. team that thinks it has a realistic chance to advance deep in the playoffs is nuts for not playing Highlands regardless of the outcome.

I think this is up for debate, as Highlands did play a team (Elder) that knocked off Ohio Division I state champion Moeller at Moeller this year, and also played Boyle County and (of course) CovCath during the regular season. But aside from that point, LN was referring to NKY 6A teams, and in order to do well in 6A the NKY teams are going to have to take on X and T. Chances are playing teams like Danville and Beechwood are not going to help NKY 6A teams prepare for T and X.

Last night was the first I had heard of Boyle backing out and that is the rumor I was referring to in the C-J thread. It's unfortunate. I wish they had honored the contract. I have a ton of love for the Boyle AD and coaching staff and I feel they did what they felt was the best thing to do for the team.

On the serious side, I think Highlands has put together an interesting schedule. If I were a Bluebird fan, I would be excited about this schedule. If they can get one more top notch opponent, would Bird fans say it will be Highlands' most challenging schedule ever?

Remains to be seen. I still only see the only possible loss being Elder. They'll beat everyone else and they could beat Elder as well.

We need to find a way to have HHS play BG every year. That would be a great game for both programs! Any way this could possibly happen?? If not, HHS may have to go north of the Ohio River to find a 10th game. There are a lot of teams in Ohio that would like to play HHS.
