Highlands schedule in 2013

Didn't say they outworked them. I said training and coaching methods. It's all about speed and quickness in their training. You simply seldom see bulky players, even their big guys. Moving running backs to the line. Not worrying about teams being able to run up the middle on them but going ahead and playing the smaller but faster d linemen. It's a philosophy, maybe even an obsession, with the coaches.

A philosophy that has served HHS very well...90-95% of the time. Against Elder this year it did not as Elder was able to run it down HHS' throat the whole game. However, it normally serves HHS very well. Regarding Scott Co., did it occur to you that maybe Scott Co. just had a bad game against HHS this year? They certainly outplayed Trinity in the semi-finals for three and a half quarters. I believe the HHS game was their only loss until the Trinity game.

Just about every program trains 10.5 - 11 months a year. December is the only month kids get off now. Even during the dead period, kids get together without coaches and train. Strength train. Speed Train. Agility Train. The argument that HHS out works opponents does not hold water any more. Maybe 20 years ago, not now though.

I went to visit Highlands winter workouts a couple years ago. I watched Highlands work out. They outwork every team I have ever coached. I coached for 20 years and was part of a state champion. Their workouts were not even close.

My kid has to recover from 15 hours per week of conditioning by taking ice baths. It is the only way he gets through the week. He has gone from a 5.9 40 to a 4.9 40 in a year. He has gone from 6 bench press reps at 185 to 30 bench press reps at the same in a year. Sorry, still not buying it.

Then what do you think the reason is?

So man up and say what you mean. What do you think it is.

I think I know what your trying to imply and I will simply say it is cowardly of you to imply it but not say it.

I know why they are faster than most and I know that all of the reasons are legit. Time for you to man up.

I'd be very interested to know how HHS gets more team speed on the field than Scott County.
By being better.

There's a difference between not being able to "buy" and choosing not to "buy," simply because the truth hurts.

He must be doing it all wrong then, because my kid comes home and cuts the grass after double sessions and agrees to ride his bike to Wendys to get the family dinner every other nite...

Did I mention he played 15 wks of football and carried a 3.0 at Highlands H.S.

Waiting for the next program to drop from the HHS schedule!

Wow! A new low on here...Let's see Ryle & Boyle drop Highlands so their training methods must be corrupt. Yeah, sounds logical. You have no clue what you are talking about.

Did I also mention that that my son also comes home and lifts and workouts on his own additionally to Dales workouts?

Ah, how three simple letters can fire a kid up...LOL

The Highlands kids do it differently then the rest of the State, period end of story...

You are absolutely clueless! Why do you worry so much about a team your kid's 6A program wouldn't even dream about playing. You don't even have to face them and it's the number one thing on your mind constantly. Get a life! I'm not going to respond with all the reasons, because you can go back and look at all the answers you've gotten all the other times you've accused HHS of recruiting.

What in the world do you think they do or could even get away with?? HHS is so by the books. They would be silly to even try anything because they are under a microscope. You don't think that EVERYONE in NKY would love to see HHS fall. If the recruiting was so rampant, don't you think something would have been exposed by now. A disgruntled player's family that didn't get the playing time they were promised or something. c'mon man, there are way better things to worry about other than a high school program that is clean as a whistle. You need to go have a beer with an HHS fan that know about the program. Sit and talk about every kid. You would be amazed where these kids come from and the history with the program. The generations of family that were connected with the program. The parents of other kids that brought their kids (at a very young age) to Ft. Thomas because of the schools and the programs offered. Many before they even knew if their kid would even like football. It's a culture in Ft Thomas that you just can't comprehend and your jealousy reeks out of you.

If HHS tried to recruit, it would take all of one day to get caught. Every person outside of Ft Thomas would love to be the person to take them down! It just doesn't happen!

The team speed is very easy to explain and has already been said. But let me put it to you this way. HHS is not a big school. They aren't blessed most of the time with a lot of big kids. They do have some now because their junior class was a big class. But heres what HHS would do against your son that has increased his speed to 4.9 and is a big kid...they would put and ex-running back that is about 50lbs lighter than your son, teaching technique and have the kid beat him off the ball on every play. Then once your son was tired of chasing him, they would bring in a second ex-running back and your son would chase him for 5-6 plays. They don't care about size. Its a bonus for them to have size.

And about the off-season, it's great that your son attends and gets a lot out of it. However, do they ALL attend and put their heart and soul into it. Maybe they do, but that's what it takes. Not just a few good players. HHS has kids that may never see a snap that attend workouts like it's Christmas mass!

If you want to talk, I can meet you for a beer! I'll buy!

And what I saw was that Scott Co. had a couple of exceptionally speedy kids, but the rest were average. That doesn't mean their "team speed" was good! HHS had a lot of speed chasing a few kids with speed. If you think they had great "team speed" then we either have a different definition of what "team speed" is or SK is very slow!

It was the first I had heard of it. Q asked me on twitter and all I could think was oh crap. That's pretty telling how Boyle has fallen if this was news 2 weeks ago and no one cared to start a thread about. Sucks to say it but realistically it may be a while before Highlands plays Boyle County again. Highlands will likely play Mercer County before they play Boyle County. Times are changing.....

Geez, I guess we are going to have to start letting Q in on some secrets around here...LOL
