To answer your question, yes. If we needed to beat a team in the playoffs running the option as well as Colerain does, with the talented players Colerain has, I'd be all over Dale to play Colerain every year to help prepare Highlands. But we don't, so I'm not. To properly defend against Colerain's O, Highlands would have to make some rather dramatic changes to it's defensive schemes and reads. I played LB against the Colerain style of option in high school and college. You have to do things quite differently on D. We actually changed personnel defensively when we played Colerain style option teams. But back in the day, the option was a much more common O than it is now; certainly in Ky where the spread, Franklin style passing O, seems to be the most common.

 

Does a Defensive Coordinator want to make those changes for one game; for an O that he won't face the rest of the year? I wouldn't if I didn't have to.

 

 

That may seem like "ducking" to you. To me it seems like putting together a schedule that helps prepare you win state championships.

 

For the record, if T and X ran the Colerain style option, I'd have substituted Colerain for Highlands in my initial post.

Why do you concern yourself with little ole Highlands??? Aren't there any Cincy boards to go to? Or is it that there are plenty of teams that can punch back on that board and you can't handle it? Okay, Okay. We give in! You are on to us. Let me speak for all the HHS fans and say that you're right! We are chicken "you know what" to play Colerain! Who wouldn't be? They are a great program! I was walking by the workout room the other day and the mumbling that could be heard from all the football players working out was "Man, I hope Dale doesn't schedule Colerain. We would get killed! They are so good!" So you are already in the minds of our players, even though we haven't played you in years...you left a mark! By the way, the coaching staff wanted me to thank you for giving them those opportunities in the past to even take the field with you guys. They know that is an elite status! So "Thank you!".

 

So there you have it! We admit it! Colerain is a wonderful program and would destroy the Bluebirds, if the Cardinals would ever allow us to take the field with them again. The players and fans are in a frenzy worrying about it. So you got us! Can we drop it now? You can print this off and use it as a confirmation of our "white flag". Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't think Highlands has ever agreed to a contract with Colerain and then backed out of the agreement. I know HHS played Colerain at PBS early in the 2005 season, and played Colerain at Colerain early in the 2008 season. I don't recall ever hearing that HHS had agreed on a contract with Colerain and then backed out of the agreement. It is my understanding that the Highlands and Boyle County coaches had an agreement about playing in 2013, and then BC decided not to honor the agreement. If this is all correct, they surely you would see the difference between the HHS-Colerain situation and the HHS-BC situation.

CF, Highlands has a record of 1-5 against Elder, and lost the first four games they ever played against Elder before winning a game, and yet HHS keeps adding Elder to the schedule (including for next year). HHS is 0-2 against Colerain.

HHS going 0-4 against Elder didn't scare the 'Birds off, so why would HHS going 0-2 against Colerain scare the 'Birds off? Perhaps HHS doesn't want to play Colerain for another reason. You have been getting blown up for a few days now trying to stir the pot in a Highlands thread and now you team up with a guy from Colerain.

 

Colerain aint eating FISH on Fridays and they certainly are not part of the GCL.
