I'm really suprised with the schedule, I wouldn't think Dale would want that early L in week 2! :walk:

It continually amazes me that all of these collective "experts" on BGP don't recognize that the transfers and out of district enrollments are almost always from the outer suburbs to the inner suburbs. There is an obviuos geographic driver that you would collectively prefer to deny. The schools on the recieving ends are proximate to the employment centers.

 

I think I know what you're trying to say, but I would argue this. Yes Boone and Ryle are down, but if take this year out for them.

I don't consider them "inner suburbs" OR do I see many kids transfer from there.

 

Also, then why aren't Holmes, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow, Newport, Dixie, Lloyd, Scott all powerhouses? Most of them are as "inner suburb" as you can get. You can't just point out a few and call it the "norm"!

 

So again, maybe it's a look in the mirror. Not pointing fingers at everyone else.

Do you believe you get better by playing 1A & 2A schools? Just curious, because to me you DO NOT! In my opinion why wouldn't someone want to play the best?

 

It appears to me that the HHS fan base desire to play SK is solely to humiliate one individual. Pathetic and immature. Talk to us about playing the best when you have played Trinity in a game that COUNTS!!!!!!!

And those programs benefited how? I would not describe the results of those games as

"competitive". SK gets all the criticism for the "weak" schedule, but exactly how many of HHS games are actually competitive? Maybe 1 all year, at most. Out of 7 games, the game score margin for SK has been 8 or less in 4 games. Based on those results, I would say the schedule is right where it should be.

 

I have heard that SK has scheduled Cooper and Connor next year and I suspect that the weak 1A school will come off the schedule.

 

You mean the one that has outscored SK 45-21 over the last two years? I hope we do drop SK and pick up a better program that can provide a challenge

I believe we are responding directly to his posts that say they can beat HHS. We are not calling the school and hanging up!! Honestly, I don't think there is any desire for HHS to play SK because we try to play a challenging schedule.

 

So you mention Trinity. They are on a "run" right now. A very good run. But we choose to play the Cincinnati teams to beef up our schedule. Which by the way took Trinity and X to the cleaners just a couple years back. Nothing negative towards those two schools (they would tell you the same), but my point is we look to challenge ourselves with good teams. We play anyone that will play us. We don't line them up week after week because we are not a big school. We can't afford to get wore out playing an "SEC type" schedule every week. But we can mix in big boys here and there and they do a good job of that. Just because its not the team you think it should be or the "hot" team at the time, doesn't mean we don't seek out challenging games.

Fair enough. But keep in mind that when you respond to UK, other folks in the SK community are going to read this stuff. Somtimes its better just to let some posts roll off and be ignored. I'd be the first one to concede that SK is not ready to play Cov Cath or HHS. Cov Cath played 3 6A teams and I don't think any of them even scored. When you have an offense that is still developing, getting shut out is not the way to build confidence.

I like the travel games. This will prepare the team for the travel down to Bowling Green in December.

I'll be honest with you, I've never understood the mentality of those that don't think the scrimmage game with Trinity counts. They certainly have counted to me. Each year I want to see whether Trinity or Highlands is better, the exact same thing I would get out of them playing during the regular season. The last two years the scrimmage game showed me that Trinity was significantly better than Highlands. In 2010, the two teams were comparable with one another. Because the scrimmages indicated what team was better, they counted. At least to me they did. Not sure how Trinity whipping Highlands in a regular season game would count any more than whipping Highlands the way they did in the scrimmage. Both would have shown the same thing: Trinity was a much better team.

SK played Trinity with the worst team in the history of the program and lost 72 - 0. SK also played Trinity with the best team in the history of the program and lost 72 - 10. As a fan base, we do not take success for granted because we have been at the bottom. We do not need constant reminders that we are not Highlands or Trinity.

 

Did they keep score at your scrimmage? Because in the eyes of Trinity, there is no difference between Highlands and SK. Both get steamrolled.

We're not asking you to play the best, shoot we'd settle for a solid 3A schedule out of SK these days.
