Changes made were as follows:

Class 2A: West Carter was granted a request to play in Class 2A after being placed in Class 3A during the draft process. The Comets will play in Class 2A, District 8. Morgan County was granted a geographic request to move to District 7 from District 8.

Class 3A: Garrard County was granted a geographic request to move to District 5 from District 4. Powell County was granted a geographic request to move to District 6 from District 5.

Class 4A: Russell County was granted a geographic and time zone request to move to District 2 from District 7.

Class 5A: Breckinridge County was granted a request to play up in class due to geographic concerns. It was placed in District 1.

No changes from the original draft alignment were made in Class A and Class 6A. Below you'll find the complete alignment with revisions.

West Carter and Morgan seem to be a misprint when you look at the teams in the district based on what was said about the actual alignment. Should read 2A District 7 for Morgan and 2A District 8 for West,.

I noticed that. I went back and edited - I believe it is fixed now. Thanks!

How does that work? I thought you couldn't petition to play down in class.

I believe they had initially requested to play up based on the lack of nearby schools in their class (West Carter has done this a couple of times). Teams requested to play up and some were dropped down before the first alignment was produced. After that was released, 2A had more neighboring schools for West Carter and they subsequently asked to be moved to 2A - which is where they should have been all along.

That's a long hike for Caverna for a district game. Seems like the KHSAA needs to revisit its 32-only policy for 1A.

I get why they do it but geography is a bear in Class 1A and it makes for some really distant outliers like Caverna.

This isn't exactly 100% correct, but it is close enough.

Yeah, I'm obviously not privy to all of the information, but that's what I've deduced from documents on KHSAA, etc. West Carter has been in an odd spot regarding football alignment for some time.

Here is one person's thoughts on the alignment:

Coaches,

Berea High School in Berea, Ky is looking for varsity football games for the 2019 - 2020 scheduling cycle. Berea High School is located between the North American tectonic plate and the Caribbean tectonic plate. These plates meet under Clays Ferry and run through the middle of Madison County. The shifting of these plates causes the constant movement of exit 76 off of Interstate I 75.

This information is scientifically evident by the fact that over the last ten years our district shifted from the mountain district travelling as far as Campbellsville Ky, to the Central Kentucky district traveling to Central Kentucky schools Bracken County and Bishop Brossart to now officially shifting to the Louisville area class A district.

It is for these reasons that we are looking for competitive games that are within a one day traveling distance. Also, if any of you have any information regarding gas vouchers please do not hesitate to contact me as we are anticipating that the next seismic shift will place us in the class A district with Fulton County and Crittendon County.

PS: If you are a district opponent for the 2019 - 2020 playing seasons please be patient with us and give us until Sunday morning when we return home to get our game footage exchanged with you via hudl.
