With KY’s heat rules a 6:00 kickoff in August could be interesting.

Will be televised on ESPNU as the first half of a HSDH. Second game will be Mater Dei (CA) at Bishop Gorman (NV).

Beyond blessed to be able to announce that I've committed to commenting on this. IMVHO it's just an attention grab just like all the announcements about commitments and offers which mean absolutely nothing. I saw a kid on Twitter announce that he was beyond blessed to be invited to pay hundreds of dollars to attend some camp.

First round games Monday at 11 AM Central @ Male Ballard @ Trinity (playing at Bellarmine U) Seneca @ Eastern St. Xavier @ Manual Semis and finals at UofL Tuesday and Thursday

Run 2 meets on Saturday. It's been done in the past. And I think is ludicrous that basketball teams miss almost an entire week of school.

Or instead of missing school days schedule the state meets on Saturday and Sunday.

Districts are supposed to be geographic. That's what we've been told in every iteration of district alignment in recent memory. The fact that Trinity, Eastern and Ballard now have one less "assigned" game makes scheduling problematic for all of them. Very few team in KY will voluntarily play Trinity and even if they would this game will be in a "district week" so most other schools in KY will already have games. Trinity can afford the hit, Ballard and Eastern not so much.

How does it penalize fall sports?

Other then to insure that KIDS are allowed a few weeks off. There are over zealous coaches who wouldn't give their players any time off in any sport if they weren't required to do it. Personally I think it needs to be longer.

From a strictly geographical perspective yes. In the district they are in their shortest road trip is longer then their longest one would be otherwise.

There is no logical reason for Oldham County to be in the district they are in.

When exactly does a student become a certain school’s property? You called Trinity out but I can assure you that more students leave the parochial system for high school then vice versa.

So are things like band and performing arts. If a kid transfers to the Youth Performong Arts School because he’s a talented actor or singer should he/she be allowed to participate school productions? They are extra curricular. Should a gifted student who transfers to a better academic be allowed to participate in any extra curricular activity? If so, why the double standard for athletes.

In Jefferson County a kid transfers to Manual because he or she is and outstanding student or because they excel in the arts and no one bats an eye. It's a better environment for them, no one suggests they sit out of anything because they transferred. Kid transfers (or thinks about transferring) to Trinity because he is an outstanding football player and wants to play at a high caliber program and I promise you there will be screeching.

Read any article from a sports medicine professional (Dr. James Andrews has done several) on the deleterious effects of specializing in and playing 1 sport year round. AAU and their counterparts in other sports encourage specialization.

College coaches say that because it's EASIER for them. If the system changes, and IMVHO it needs to, the poor college coaches will adapt.

All schools in Jeff County are open enrollment. Like all schools in the county except Manual, Male and Butler they have a resides area to draw students from. Students from all over the county can also to apply. They used to be an aviation magnet but I don’t know if they still are. I think the bottom line is that there is not much demand to opt into Shawnee while many of the better students and athletes that live in their resides area opt to go elsewhere. No school other then Male has a true feeder school.

Shawnee is located in the heart of one of the least savory areas of town. It’s not an attractive option for lots of parents. Their first game last year was an away game. I saw a picture, they literally had no one in the stands to watch them and I really mean the stands were empty. Their AD was recently reassigned over questions about missing equipment.

Shawnee has had to forfeit games in recent years because they didn't have 11 players eligible to dress for the game.

What is the purpose of this thread? It seems to me that it's main result is that it's shown the underlying sexism that exists here.

The one school I’m familiar with buys the game and practice uniforms and the students are responsible for everything else.

And field hockey which is strictly a Louisville and Notre Dame sport. From what I've heard the schools with LAX were given the opportunity to vote on it joining the KHSAA and they voted it down. Makes no sense to me but...
