I’m sure this is true but officially a coach can’t “block” a transfer.

Since we’re talking about transfers I think it’s important to note that the schools really have no power one way or another in determining if a transfer student becomes eligible. I know coaches like to say they’ll “block” a transfer but there’s really nothing they can do, short of alleging that the kid left the school owing money or with a piece of school owned gear.

If they build it in Northern Kentucky it will only have stands on 1 side of the field regardless of how much land they have. ?

I can speak just for Jefferson County. If a kid who is a talented singer, dancer or actor transfers to Manual so they can attend the Youth Performing Arts School no one bats an eye. Why is it different if a kid transfers because he can enhance his athletic career?

Playing ability does not necessarily translate into coaching ability.

Getting the right "vibe" from a coach has to be important and I know Rondale was really impressed with Brohm. I've said it a million times it's better to be a big fish in a small pond. If you're good enough to play in the league they will find you but they can't find you if you don't play. Rodjay Burns learned that lesson. Bottom line is each player needs to pic the school that they feel gives them the best chance to fulfill their dreams. If it's Purdue, Louisville, or Kentucky Wesleyan if it's what is the best fit for the kid then it's good.

Because it’s X and they are above such things. When Beatty was first hired at Trinity that was their criticism of choice, shouldn’t have gone national for the hire.

My comments were with my tongue very deeply planted in my cheek. Sarcasm doesn’t translate well. I was just echoing some of the comment I observed the X supporters making in the run up to the state championship game.

X wouldn't allow that. They are above transfers. If you don't start your HS career at X you don't deserve to go to X. They also didn't play in the CSAA so they haven't worked their way through the system to earn the right to play for X.

Personally I don't buy into the Chuck Norris has to ask Chuck Smith for permission to use the name mentality that many on here seem to have for Mr. Smith. He's an outstanding coach, no doubt but so are (or were) Dale Mueller, Bob Redman, Jeff Marksbury, Kevin Wallace, Chris Wolfe and others. Bob Beatty has beaten them all.

I would love to see Beatty and Coverdale scheme against a Smith defense. I know that most people on here think Chuck Smith is the penultimate high school football coach in the state but he's never coached against Beatty. I don't think the powers that be at X are smart enough to open their search up to an "outsider".

It depends on the team you are playing. If Trinity is playing Seneca or J-Town don't do it, you'll get there anyway. If you're playing a team that capable of coming back from a 35 point deficit, and I would argue that most likely a team in the championship game is capable, then you do it because the team won't get enough touches to comeback. Didn't LexCath lose an opening game to St. X a few years back after opting not to go for 2 and a running clock late in the first half only to see X storm back and beat them in the second half?
