My comment was in no way trying to lessen what Nick accomplished this year. It was simply a response to your post implying they Trinity wouldn’t be able to overcome their losses this year. I made the statement about Nick not starting as a freshman to illustrate that at Trinity you never know who the next hero will be and that even someone who wasn’t the best player at his position as a freshman can be a star later. For the record as far as I’m concerned Nick was the best QB in the state this year and it’s not close. I wouldn’t trade him for anyone.

Trinity loses 3 o-lineman but should see the return of 2 preseason 1st teamers who missed the whole year due to injury. It will be the 3rd consecutive year that they will have a new QB and while they lose Moore and Strothman there are plenty of guys with experience at receiver. Both Smith and McGuire return at RB. They also have the advantage of a coaching staff that is masterful at adjusting the offense to the strengths and weaknesses of the personnel. Defense will be a HUGE question early. Lots of opportunities there for talented youngsters to find minutes. Trinity’s freshmen ran the table this year and many of those kids will see substantial minutes next year. Then there are always the unheralded freshmen that contribute. Nick Bohn wasn’t the starting QB as a freshman. I’m not going to predict that Trinity will run the schedule unscathed next year but you never know. I didn’t think we’d go undefeated the last 2 seasons either.

A while back one of the X faithful implied that there was a difference between, as I recall him stating, a 3rd stringer from Manual transferring to X and an impact player transferring to Trinity and I was just curious if there had ever been any transfers to X that ended up starting there that had started their HS career at Trinity. I seem to recall another poster implying that it was sketchy when kids transferred after starting high school.

So X wouldn't welcome a 4* transfer? Excuse me if I find that a bit hard to swallow.

So transfers are OK if they don't start? Got it. The St. X transfer mindset is hard to grasp. St. X has never had any players transfer from Trinity and start for them have they?

How so? Rondale is an incredible athlete but he wasn't the only receiver Nick threw to. Nick all season made very good decisions about where to throw the ball and yes a lot of times it was to Rondale but there was also Strothman, Palumbino, Smith, McGuire, Miller, Gray... Nick broke the record because he made good decisions and delivered the ball accurately and Trinity's receivers were very sure handed and dropped very few passes.

The PI call against Dingle in the end zone. X's receiver clearly pushed off. Non-call against X on the long TD run by Moore. On of X's players tackled Strothman. Those are the ones that jump to mind.

I want to make sure I understand the X narrative for this. Start at a school but live in another state OK. Transfer in, follow all KHSAA rules regarding the transfer and even miss several games after the transfer not OK. Maybe, just maybe the folks at X need to figure our why kids want to transfer to one school and not the other.

There were things they could have done differently with the personnel they had today that could have caused more problems for Trinity. More routes from their receivers, different formations, motions etc. They just haven't shown me any ability to adapt their offense to their personnel.

Back to the original post. I really don’t think the current X staff would take full advantage of Moore.

Tackett won't let it happen. Louisville will likely keep a few "lesser" championships but the "big" ones will stay in Lexington.

If not Brohm v Bush then... Trinity vs X 2007 X is undefeated and playing for it's first undefeated season under Mike Glaser (I'm still amazed that he never had an undefeated season but I digress). X had beaten Trinity 24-15 in the regular season game (Glaser held an umbrella at mid field after the game) and came in favored in this contest. X gets a TD on a fake field goal to go up 28-21 at half. The second half is a defensive struggle with no score until Trinity with QB Will Stein mounts a drive and scores with :32 left in the game to tie and force OT. Trinity wins the toss and opts for D first. For some inexplicable reason X passes on first down and the ball is intercepted by Donovan Sims. On 1st down Trinity RB Tim Phillips ran hard and picked up nine yards but was denied the end zone. Next play LB Wes Weitlauf lines up at FB and with everyone expecting him to lead block for Philips he instead takes the hand off and dives over for the winning TD. Great game.

John Tong was the best. Just enough of a homer that you knew where his loyalties were but not the cheerleader that most current PA people have become.

Not to thread jack, but when has Chris Wolfe beaten either team without Keyon Wakefield? I believe that Mr. Wolfe's coaching prowess is a bit over rated.
