I know this is a college hoops video but the voice!

 

I am sure this brings back memories for all of us old guys and gals.

The Voice of the Sweet 16; he was special, indeed.

 

We could have just turned up the "crowd mic" for the starting line-ups before each of the games...and let fans back home hear how a real public address man does it.

 

Got to be there championship night in 1996...his last state tournament game.

I'm pretty sure every PA guy from Paducah to Pikeville since him stole that line.

more like: "Time is out-uhh... on the floor."

Those who really remember him will get that.

There was a thread about John Tong a year or so ago in the College Basketball forum – he was great!!

 

When I was in college I worked in an office along with one of his friends.... he would call the office periodically to ask to speak to his friend in a hilarious French accent. No disguising that voice, lol.

"Theee foul is on #4, Phelps, his first, team's seventh. Aaaat the line, Jones and he will have one....and the bonus."

"No goal.......steps called."

 

Dude was great.

And ALWAYS dressed as if he were going in for a GQ fashion shoot.

I'm told that when he would buy a tie to go with a suit or sports coat, he would buy an extra one just like it, and cut it up to make a pocket handkerchief out of it.... to match his tie.

I remember when he would call St.X vs Trinity. Legend!
