From the Bell County thread, it appears his wife's family is from eastern Kentucky and they were looking to make a move closer to home.

I had been hearing rumors of Coach Smith leaving as early as January this season. There was a lot of internal issues with team chemistry so this doesn't surprise me. In regards to Kerry Stovall, I don't think he makes a return. We have a tough job here and I think Coach Stovall is at the point in his career where he doesn't want those issues. I would love to see him come back but I don't believe it will happen.

It was rumored that he was going back to where he came from after his first year at CCHS This is his best chance to win it all as he stated was his goal when he was hired. He is a great coach but will be remembered as a Curtis Turley, a coach that never stays at a job very long
