UKMustangFan
Interesting... I'm sure it's easier for him to say when he could've also been a professional baseball player, but I wonder how many other former players share his sentiments?? Bengal Maniac
To me a no brainer. Average player in baseball makes millions more than average football player. Guaranteed contracts in baseball and usually a longer career, plus less physical problems in general in later life. Only downside is baseball has more player movement in trades. Difficult for most to settle in one place. Only a few can do that.
jericho
He was drafted in 14th round in baseball I highly doubt he would still be playing or even made it to majors. Since football will cease to exist due to violence, I guess we won't have police or military either due to violence and they make a crap lot less

If you have the talent to definielty make it on an MLB roster versus an average NFL then you'd have to be brain dead to play football. That said it's much much harder to make a MLB roster. spindoc
Baseball is harder on the body than he might think. It takes some serious breaks to make it to the show. Not saying he couldn't.
Clyde
I think we can all agree the highlight of this thread is my guy Mtn Ref's line "a crap lot less."
mcpapa
Do I agree that if both options are realistic, baseball is the more attractive choice? Sure do. Do I agree that pro football will disappear in the next 10-20 years? Sure don't.
Clyde
Football is not going to disappear. Participation is declining and I think will continue to decline. However, it's not going anywhere.
